Every home should have one.
Have bought several of these over the years. Did have a catering business and they always got through environmental health checks.easy to use and will switch themselves off to save battery. Accurate easy to read display. Now use in domestic kitchen, a must when barbecuing, so easy to wear the outside of the food whilst the inside is undercooked and could make you ill.

Grate.
As a former chef, this is spot on.

Absolute junk
It's just not worth it. As some people have mentioned, the probe didn't last long. After a year, it just broke and fell apart. It's not a good quality product, especially since it's for catering, so it should last. I had exactly the same thermometer bought 15 years ago, but it finally gave up. I won't make the same mistake of thinking it's the same brand. It's just not worth it.

This thermometer is very precise, its readings coincide with Thermapen's readings, but it is very slow. It takes what seems like an eternity (over half a minute for sure) for it to get to the final value for the temperatures that I measure during cooking (in 120-180C range).
