A must for a narrow galley kitchen
Great little gadget, we are regular narrowboat users, and i didnt want to bring too many kitchen items to cook in a tiny kitchen where space is very limited, This chopper is the perfect alternative to my blender and food mixer, only made a salsa so far, but it was so easy, chopped the veg to perfection, and best of all, after removing the blade i used the bowl and lid to store the salsa in the fridge. This will be used soooo much, Easy and quick to use, no tears with onions, less washing up, and no need for power! what more could i ask on a boat. Looking forward to checking out other Brieftons gadgets

Great product
Very good product. Ordered a second one. The first one lasted for more than 3 years.

Agreeably surprised at how well this works
I didn't have high hopes for this but was agreeably surprised. For fine chopping, it did an excellent job with all the veg I have tried so far - carrot, onion, courgette, mushrooms, celery & bell pepper. I've also successfully chopped cooked ham & made a rough puree from tinned kidney beans. Rough chopping is a little less efficient. Pieces aren't simple bigger they much less evenly sized. This isn't always a problem of course. Finally, it made a very good job (with the blades not the mixer attachment) of mixing a biscuit dough - both rubbing in stage and adding liquid. The pull cord is mostly very easy. It needed a little persuasion to get started with the carrots but nothing that caused a problem. I ditched my electric food processor some time ago in favour of a powerful hand blender as the processor was too big to stay out in my small kitchen, too much trouble to set up and way too much trouble to clean. Compared to that the Brieftons chopper is a joy. Compact and easy to set up and clean after use. It is also much more effective than the (very) small processor bowl that came with my hand blender - which chops food into some big chunks and some mush. This won't do everything a powerful food processor can but for what I wanted it is ideal. All in all, I am delighted that I took a chance with this product and would recommend it for the uses I've described.

Arthritic hands approve!
My elderly mother loves to cook for others. With her arthritis, chopping vegetables was making what was an enjoyable, rewarding experience for her, more of a painful chore. I looked at many vegetable choppers, including those that you have to press down. She doesn't have the strength to use that sort, especially when chopping some of the harder vegetables. This gem of a gadget has a 'puller handle' (for lack of a better term) which activates the blades to turn and chop the items inside. The more times you pull, the more finely the vegetables chop. Mum can manage this easily, and without pain. It easily deals with any vegetable she chooses even carrots. This is the second time I have purchased this item, she uses it so frequently that the blades blunted on the first. It lasted 3 years of being used weekly which I thought was good value. The unit itself was still in great condition, so very durable. My mum gives it her seal of approval, and I would recommend it.

Great product, makes veg preparing much easier and safer
I was a little dubious about ordering this chopper, as thought it wouldn't be as good a description, but I was surprised as how well it works. My two teenagers love cooking themselves, but have fine motor skill problems and hypermobility, they have found using this much easier (and safer). I have also found less mess in the kitchen, as their veg is prepped in a small container now. We have had the chopper a month now, so it has been fully trialled. It is easy to wash and can put it in the dishwasher.

in a really weird therapeutic way it's also fun. First salsa made this evening and some adjusting ...
This could have been one of those " it does what it says on the can" type of reviews and to some degree it is. It's a food chopper, it chops food...well! - But, in a really weird therapeutic way it's also fun. First salsa made this evening and some adjusting needed on our part in terms of initial quantity of ingrediedients used. I chucked it all in, which in turn meant I had to use more pulls to get the food chopped up, so next time I will put less in, which will mean less pulling, which will hopefully mean even better salsa. Sometimes the simplest things are the best, I am a self confessed "more power" geek normally and am still surprised I didn't spend a small fortune on something with a plug and lead, but am so glad I didn't. If you want a simple easy and fun to use food chopper which chops food well, buy this one!

Handy wee item. But didn't last...
Excellent and fast for chopping onions, which is mainly what I wanted the chopper for. Made a lovely wee finely chopped salad with spring onion, tomato, lettuce and peppers to accompany last night's dinner. With really sharp blades, easy to use and sits on my worktop for use every day. Had to send this back, as disappointingly, it developed cracks after using for a couple of weeks! Changed it for a Zyliss, which I've now used regularly for ages without it showing signs of wear and tear.

EDIT: Just wanted to add, the Brieftons Food Chopper is still going strong and I've been using it almost every day. I still haven't washed it in the dishwasher, but it's dead easy to clean by hand, just be careful of the sharp blades! :) Today, I was adding brown sugar to a recipe and discovered a brick of sugar! I broke it up into small pieces and then chopped it with the Briefton...a few short pulls to get it started then quite a few long pulls to break up the small pieces and I ended up with a nice fine sugar with only a few pea sized pieces. Pea sized was fine. I washed and set the Briefton aside because I'll be using it later to chop some potatoes, carrots and cabbage to go into a Cottage Pie. Man, that's going to be good! The only thing I can say bad about the Brieftons Quick Pull Food Chopper is that you have to be very careful of the blades, as they are just as sharp as the company says they are. Yes, I nicked the tip of my index finger when I accidentally touched one of the blades...and I was trying to be careful at the time. The chopper has successfully chopped onions, carrots, potatoes, cabbage, lettuce, and cooked ground beef. Carrots and potatoes have a tendency to jam/stick, so you sometimes have to pull a chuck off a blade...watch out for those sharp blades!...but that's only on the first pull or two. The carrots, onions, lettuce and cabbage chopped down to 2 or 3 mm bits cleanly and with little or no liquid being drawn out, great for coleslaw and sandwich toppings, or just rough chopped. The ground beef, which had formed big clumps when I cooked it quickly and easily broken up into a medium, then fine mince. The beef was still hot, although well drained, so I didn't even have to let it cool. The potatoes were par-boiled and I wanted to mince them for hash browns, but not mash them, and that worked perfectly! I have found that I need to pull the cord more times than recommended, but maybe that's because I wanted the cabbage/carrots/etc. chopped down to smaller bits, even so, that's no problem. I removed the top and check the items every 2 or 3 pulls just to make sure I don't get too fine a chop at the beginning. Now, if I want a fine chop I only check every 5 or 6 pulls. I have only hand washed the Chopper, but that is quick and easy. I put a drop of dish soap into the container along with an inch or two of hot water and then pull the cord a few times to spin the water and soap around and then rinse and hand dry...careful of those blades! I wipe the inside of the top part with the pull cord with a damp cloth and then dry it as well. Now, I can put the Chopper away for the next usage or immediately use it for another chopping job. A mixer comes with the Chopper, but I haven't used it, so I can't comment on how well that works. I highly recommend this Chopper. I don't know how long it's going to last, as I've only had it a couple of weeks, but as long as I take reasonable care of it I expect it to last a very long time. Just be careful of those very sharp blades! :)

Excellent product but the plastic cup is very fragile. It broke within two weeks.
