Another sleeper gem from the RovyVon brand - the A28, still good as 1st generation
At the time of this writing, the 2nd generation of the A28 has already come out. I was tempted to get it, but it's rather expensive at $57 USD. Then, I spotted a terrific deal on the 1st generation A28--nearly 50% off! The G2 is a welcomed improvement over the G1. It has a larger battery (now 850 mAh, versus 600 mAh), two control buttons, a new UI that's easier to remember, a whole new clip with magnetic feature, and a Nichia LED option. But is that worth nearly double the cost of the G1? I decided for now, I would get the G1 and see if I get on with the format of this flashlight. The A28 is a great flashlight in many regards. If price doesn't matter to you, I'd suggest the G2, as the new UI brings some welcome relief to the age-old double-click to turn on. That double-click is a workable avoidance of accidental activation, but most lights don't do this. The G2 eliminates that. Single click turns on. And if you want to prevent accidental activations, you can do an e-lockout of the flashlight. ALSO, the G2 provides a nice moonlight mode from the front emitter. That's missing from the G1, relying upon the side white emitters for dim lighting. Both of these lights have a removable head. The threads of the polycarbonate body are very tight and smooth. There's no risk of leakage, as there's also an o-ring in place. This is meant for removing the battery and replacing it, if need be. RovyVon has an excellent track record with batteries, so this is a very seldom need. In fact, my 4 year old A8y is still working great. Holds a charge quite well. Being able to extract the electronics w/battery, you can also apply some GITD tape if you wish. I did this, because I found the GITD to be a big disappointment. Unlike the A5 that has the whole polycarbonate body embedded with GITD, the A28 body doesn't have it. Instead, RovyVon opted to make the plastic frame for the mcpcb+battery as GITD. So you can barely see it... and unfortunately, it also doesn't last very long. One could really take some GITD paint and apply it to the inner wall of the clip side of the tube, which would be even more effective than GITD tape. The A28 has two emitter options: A 6500k CREE and a 4000K Nichia. The Cree is seriously bright. But there is green in it. I put some minus green filter over the front to test, and it does a great job of clearing out that green cast with just a minor notice of lumens drop. I learned that the optic is a single piece TIR--no separate glass in front of it. So, you can't slip any filter behind the front glass. It has to go on top. I'm going to install a minus-green filter to warm up the beam a bit. I think this is a better way to go than the lower powered and less efficient Nichia (although a 519A Nichia is nicely efficient and would be most welcomed). If I could ask for some improvements, it would be the following: 1) The mode memory is set by leaving the light on for 3 continuous minutes. That brightness level is memorized. But if you're like me who prefers to use a light like this on low mode most of the time, it's an annoyance after that exception of using it on high for 3+ minutes. The UI should allow for a memory reset, that starts it back to moonlight, or low. 2) It would be nice to have a battery level indication. The standard set of flashes for one's and tenth's would be great. A simple command could cause the side white LED to flash accordingly. No hardware changes necessary. 3) It would be great to have a tritium slot somewhere on the body... perhaps inside the loop arch or cut out of the base. One could do it inside the body, so that the tritium is very nicely protected, shining through the polycarbonate. 4) The white LED's have low and high... but it would be nice to have a beacon. A light like this could be very useful with that. You could use it as a marker when in a dark area. The UI would be very easy to adjust. A single click in the group goes from low to high, then another would be beacon. Overall, I'm happy with this A28. It's a fun flashlight. It's too bad the new G2 clip isn't compatible with the G1, but at least the G1 clip is very sturdy. One could always affix a magnet to it, or a lanyard.

ROVYVON LITTLE CHAMP🔥
AMAZING! This lightweight and extremely durable flashlight is worth every dollar! From its amazing battery life for its size, CRAZY brightness, to its very nice button feedback, quality, and operation…BUY IT! The product also comes with a 2-Year warranty (3 if you purchase with the Amazon Prime Visa Credit Card). It’s IPX8 rated and is the perfect size/weight for an EDC flashlight. Highly versatile as it comes with the option of a VERY high quality magnetic clip that has a super satisfying click feedback when opened or a ring option. Charged her up really quickly when I first unboxed and only took 5 minutes so they definitely come pre charged😎. Trust me, you will not regret buying this!💪🏽

An amazing little light
I have had Rovyvon lights for years, with the quality and longevity being way above par for lights. As an investigator, Ineed lights that will always function when needed and the Rovyvon lights have never let me down. The Aurora A3 has been my key-chain go-to lights for many years and when I saw this A28 it seemed just the light for everyday use. It sure is. I purchased the model with the white and red side lights and am amazed at the brightness of the two embedded LED's. Pin head size and yet the brightness is outstanding. Once you get used to the switch usage it is relatively intuitive. One press and hold turns the turbo mode on as long as the button is held. Double click from off and you get the multiple modes of light, starting with high then each successive click brings high, medium and low in succession. Three rapid clicks brings on the red side light and then you click through flashing, strobe or steady. Four rapid clicks brings the white sidelight on low and the next click sets the low lumen side light. You will not be disappointed with this light. I trust Rovyvon quality and durability every day and always feel confident they will perform well.

Best Combination of Features I've Found so Far
This light isn't perfect, but it's the best I've found so far for my needs. I was looking for a light that would be good as an EDC that wasn't bulky in my pockets, as well as for extended backpacking trips, both long-distance ultralight hiking and for backcountry hunting. That's a lot to ask out of one little light, and this one stands up admirably, with just a few hiccups. I wrote this review after owning the light for 3 months, which included regular EDC use and 600 miles of hiking. Pros: -The ratio of power output, weight, and battery life is excellent. There are other lights that do better in each of those areas, but this one is still very good in all three. -The clip. I've taken this thing through some pretty aggressive bushwhacks, and came out with a bunch of leaves and twigs stuck under it. This means it got caught and tugged on regularly, yet it never fell out once. Replacing knives and lights lost due to loose clips has cost me more money than I'd like to admit over the years, so I've learned to really prioritize this. -The controls. They are a little unusual but I grew comfortable with them much quicker than I expected. After the learning curve, I liked that I didn't have to cycle through a bunch of different modes to get to the one I wanted. -The red light. It's a decent little lantern that works well in a tent, and on strobe mode it's very bright, omni-directional, and the battery life on that mode is very long. I could see it being very useful in an emergency rescue situation. But since that's a rare thing, I also like that I don't have to "scroll" past it to access other functions. -Unlike previous lights I've bought, this one doesn't turn on accidentally in my pocket. -The glow in the dark feature is a minor but neat addition. You only need to turn the UV lantern on for a few seconds to charge the glow in the dark section right up. The Cons: -The clip. Yes, the clip is also a con, in fact it might be my biggest gripe! Sure, it's high quality, but it's pointing the wrong way, and it's not reversible. Flipping it around would let me clip it to a hat, which would add a huge degree of versatility. I'd rather not have to hold it in my mouth when I need both hands, and this simple fix would mean I wouldn't regret leaving my headlamp at home. -The micro-USB port. First, a USB-C option would be a nice step up so I could start standardizing my cables, especially when camping. Second, the charging port is recessed and right next to the key-ring. This means not all of my spare charging cables fit. But several of them still do, including the one that came with it (obviously). -I got the UV option for tracking blood trails while hunting. I haven't used it for the purpose yet, so it might be fine, but it is pretty dim so I'm not confident. If you get the white light lantern version or are using the UV for checking currency or something, this probably won't be an issue for you.

Best flashlight I've ever owned
This light is near perfect. Perfect ranges of brightness, from very high, down to"moon light" mode. Moonlight mode, and their excellent design is why I keep coming back to Rovyvon. This light can stay on for like a week on moonlight mode, and its plenty bright for walking around the house at night. Then you can really pump out the photons on high if you need it. The red lights, dim, high, and two different flash patterns, come in really handy when you want to preserve your low light vision, and Ive used the flashing alot on walks, drivers will slow down and avoid a flashing red light. The UV, is cool. It's nice to use for finding bug damage on a citrus tree I have that has glowing sap under UV. Though, I'm kind of terrified of using the UV, as it's bright, and UV is a carcinogen. The magnetic clip is awesome, and it's a two way clip on top of that. The newer Rovyvon lights have USB-C, and metal buttons. They have really upped their game and their designs just keep improving. I hope they keep making small rechargeable lights, that have the option of super bright, and super dim. ALSO! BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF ALL TIME! They stand behind their products.

Best EDC flashlight I've owned
The best EDC flashlight I've ever owned. It goes everywhere with me, to the point that I feel naked without it. Super bright turbo mode lights up even the darkest night, magnetic clip is great when checking a car engine in the dark, ultraviolet is perfect when searching for something fluorescent, great size and battery life, and the low-lumen moonlight mode is perfect when you don't want to disturb others. Great flashlight, cannot recommend enough.

Loved it so much that I’m now starting to collect EDC flashlights
Unless you’re familiar with premium EDC(everyday carry) flashlights this thing will blow u away. It is insane how a flashlight the size of a Bic lighter can produce so much light. If you’re a gadget person like me then this thing is a must have. It is not only practical but it’s downright impressive. I’ve had it for about two weeks & I’ve showed it off to just about anyone I’ve talked to when it’s dark outside. Originally I bought this to carry while I do deliveries at night but after trying & loving it I now carry it with me at all times. On the turbo setting(the highest option) I’m able to light up approximately 150 meters out. On top of it being able to shine so far out the light also has a large width. At 150 yards the width of the light is easily 50ft. Keep in mind the turbo setting will only stay on for about 60 seconds at a time in order to prevent overheating. However the setting down(High) is still unbelievable for a flashlight this size. The light this flashlight produces is what most people would probably expect from something almost 10x the size. Considering how small it is you’re able to comfortably carry it around in your pocket all day & not even realize it’s there. As shown in my picture the light is just a tad bit larger than a Bic lighter. With mine I use the key ring/lanyard hole & use a lanyard which I attach to my belt loop & then just toss the light into my pocket. This way anytime I need to use the light I just pull on the exposed lanyard & have the light out & ready in a second. Since it has the UV light as well as the side light functions you’ll quickly see why it’s worth carrying on you at all times. The UV function was something that attracted me to the light in the first place. Personally I mostly use it for checking if bills are legitimate since I am a delivery driver & handle cash from lots of different people. There is a large variety of things the UV light can be used for but a few of the common uses are checking for urine stains from pets as well as bodily fluids(making sure your sheets are actually clean when u rent a hotel room). Also, for people who live in the Southwest you’re able to detect scorpions with a UV light. The side light comes in handy when you want to light up a small area right in front of u. For example lighting up a tabletop. I should also mention durability. So far I’ve only dropped the light once but it was from about 4ft directly onto a tile floor & everything is working just fine. While this light is great & I’d certainly recommend it there still are a few things which could’ve been done better. The battery life is nice(I’ve went on a 40+ minute walk with the light on high the entire time) but it would be nice to have a battery percentage indicator of some kind. When u go on walks the last thing u want is your light to die right in the middle of your trip & because of this reason I chose to give the light a full charge after it’s gotten an hour or so of use on the high setting. It would be nice to know when you actually need to give the light a charge & when you don’t. While the clip on this light is as sturdy as can be(it’s screwed on instead of just snapped onto the body) it’s not a two-way clip. The two-way feature would be nice for people who’d like to attach the light to the brim of a hat & use it hands-free while lighting ahead. Last, it would be nice to have some type of flashing/strobe feature. The strobe could be used for self defense & the flashing feature could be used for signaling or a warning light if your car breaks down on the side of the road. Once again this is an amazing light & despite the few improvements which could be made I don’t think u should hesitate one bit if you’re thinking of buying one

The Best "Pocket Clip" flashlight EVER!
The RovyVon A28 is the most functional flashlights I have ever purchased. Too small to be considered an EDC tactical light and too big to be considered a keychain flashlight. Yet it is so multi-functional, it stands alone in a new category I call "pocket clip" flashlights. 1 click and hold of the button will illuminate your immediate surroundings with a 1000 lumens of floody bright light. The series of clicks needed to utilize the various modes are easy to master. 2 quick clicks turns the light on to its LO setting with an dditional clicks to cycle thru it's MED, HI and TURBO setting. 3 quick clicks turns on the flashlights RED LIGHT mode on to solid red. An additional clicks for blinking red and one more click for trobing red. 4 quick clicks to turn on the UV light on LO with one additional click for HI. Pressing and holding the button for 1/2 a second from any setting will turn it off. There is a small red light next to the charging port to indicate when the flashlight needs to be charged. The light will turn blue when it is fully charged. I cannot say enough about this highly functional pocket clip flashlight or its incredibly reasonable price.
