Select B44212-29LPC Letter Cage - Brassed ...
I purchased this Letter Cage last week and it arrived very quickly and was well packaged. I ordered a brass coloured letter catcher and upon opening the box I found it to be a cross between a brass / light copper coloured finish. This did not disappoint me as it looks very shiney and bright. The catcher is very sturdy and light. Fitting it on my Upvc front door was very easy as four fixing brackets were supplied (although all were in a chrome type colour). I only used two brackets and screws to to fit it on the door and it is very secure. Both my wife and I are very pleased with purchase of this item and it should prove very useful over the coming years due to preventing my dogs from chewing up the mail and also saving me from bending down to pick up the mail from off the floor, a bonus. Information from the seller was excellent and the description was spot on. Definitely recommend.

Saved the post!
Could not fault the service or the product. the cage is sturdy, easy to fit and effective. Our terrier was systematically destroying our post - even found the shreds in the back garden! The cage arrived very quickly indeed, was as described and a lot cheaper than in the local shops. A couple of screws fitted it easily to the door and problem solved. Yes, it is quite big, but then the post can be quite big also, and a smaller cage would have made it difficult for the posties to push the mail through. Very satisfied all round.

Great for letters. Not so much for Amazon parcels.
I do love the look of this product and it does an excellent job of catching letters and junk mail.HOWEVER. Bit of a downer. When the mailman posted a standard letter sized cardboard Amazon parcel though it, because the parcels are rigid - they don't fit.But the mailman was determined to MAKE it fit and tore the whole basket off the door shoving it in.I think your paper eBay style soft parcels would be fine.I've reattached and left it up for now. But I may end up needing a note above the mailbox asking for parcels to be put in the porch.Either way. The basket itself is well made, looks great. Has holes for you to drill it to a wooden door. Or you can attach it to UVPC and glass with small 3M hooks like I did.If I do end up having to retire it due to heavy handed posties, it would be a real shame because it looks and works fab.

A great product at a good price
Firstly, this arrives pre-made - NOT flat-pack like some others I read about. It is sturdy and fits over a 12" letterbox easily. The top opens (upwards towards the door) easily.Four fitting points make attaching the cage ..... ummm, easy.All-in-all, a very sturdy and good-quality letter cage. Please note though ..... my OH says it would be impossible to supply the right fixing screws for EVERY possibility so - although fixings ARE provided - be aware that they may not be suitable.

Definitely NOT suitable for a 30cm letterbox !
If the cage had been suitable for a 30cm letterbox as the advert states, it would have been perfect for my one. However, since the internal width at the top is only 28cm, it definitely ISN'T suitable as supplied. I had two choices, send it back, or modify it myself. I decided on the latter. The top hinges are simply made from two interlocked loops in the wire the basket is made from so the first thing was to bend the lid ones out straight using a flat bladed screwdriver and a pair of pliers. Having removed the lid, I was then able to pull the sides apart so that the internal space increased from 28cm to around 31cm, My front door has a molded UPVC insert so i am going to have to obtain some stand-off spacers for the fixing screws to go through. I'll probably just use some brass nuts. The final thing to do will be to widen the hinges on the lid. I'll probably simply Araldite short lengths of copper tubing such as brake pipe to extend the loops I previously straightened and then bend them to hold the lid in place. Now I'm sure, once I've finished this and have it installed, it will give many years of service but I'm a DIY type of person with a comprehensive toolkit and I can't be bothered to wait another four days for a replacement. I suspect most people would have returned it instead.Looking at previous reviews it seems it's a bit haphazard as to what width you get sent. I don't know whether the factory has very poor quality control or whether the suppliers have more than one width in stock and have an unfortunate habit of sending out the wrong one but it does seem there is a higher chance of that happening than there should be.It's up to you whether you want to chance it. If you only have a 28cm letterbox of course, you shouldn't have any problems and I would definitely recommend this.

Good size and solution found for attaching to UPVC door.
Got this for a UPVC door, saw various questions asking about use on this type of door but it screws in fine with good screws. Only problem is that these doors are often not flat, with contoured panels sticking out so my solution was using spacers (I used the white blocks that look like lego which are used for fixing the inside panels of adjoining cupboard sides together, and they are just right). Obviously the screws will leave a mark in the door if removed but anything will. There is the possibility to glue these spacers to the door but that would still leave some mark if removed. One possible problem with this cage is if you have very inquisitive tall dogs that could open the top without it having a catch but I've not had that problem. All in all a good sized item, anything smaller would be a problem for large envelopes for A4 size letters etc so don't go for smaller ones. Item was delivered promptly too.
