I love all things narrated by David Attenborough. This one doesn’t disappoint.

Every documentary Sir David Attenborough has ever done is the BEST. I think I've got everything he's ever done, yet I'm still on the lookout for something I've missed. I especially like watching his DVDs at bedtime. It feels like a dear friend is reading me a bedtime story.

This sequel is better than the first. It concentrates on other polar regions of the earth, were the original series only focused on Antarctica and the Arctic. Interesting scenes include how wolves can bring down a full grown oxen and how killer whales hunt. Very interesting and definately worth getting on DVD. Alan Palmer New Zealand.

It's an Attenborough nature show. You know what you'll be getting. It goes without saying that the footage captured is stunning almost beyond belief in many cases. I can only imagine the thrill the photographers and researchers experienced when they were able to document some of the moments shown. Yes it's violent in places, just like nature really is. There are just as many examples of failed hunts as successful ones, of baby animals overcoming the odds and surviving as not. I would've liked to see more stories about plant life and the less "spectacular" animals. Bears, seals, penguins, walruses, narwhals, etc. have been done to death.I'm sure by now, though, you're also aware of just how many times you'll be chastised over and over and over about climate change and how "we" have to do something and how bad it's already gotten. The show cannot go 20 minutes without another bludgeoning. Walruses lying pink on the shore from laying in the sun? Well they're pinker now because of CC. Polar bears having to squabble over a walrus kill? Well they're squabbling more now because of CC. Cute baby seals left by mom to survive on their own? Well most in some places won't now because of CC.The west is doing what it can and making rapid progress in cutting emissions. Other countries on this planet are not. Neither are ever directly admitted to or chastised by these sorts of programs. Until that changes, the nattering will, for me, continue to be nothing more than an annoyance.
