Wasn't sure at first about buying online, but need not have worried.The beam arrived with a very quick turn around from order being placed. It was well enough wrapped on delivery and extremely heavy.The wood is beautiful, and the natural knots add great character.I originally had ordered the T brackets, however bought additional straight ones as felt they would be better for the job and possibly easier. Again the additional brackets arrived very quickly.I'm no joiner nor carpenter and as such putting the beam up wasn't as easy for me as I'd hoped, however I got their in the end and it looks simply gorgeous on the chimney breast.I'd give 4.5 stars if it was possible, purely as I wish the company (at an additional charge) gave you to option for pre drilled holes. They know the product, know how it works and how to handle it and something that took he ages would have been no bother to them.I wasn't sure on a couple of things and Ian was extremely polite, helpful and understanding.Great company would highly recommend.

Very pleased with this just what I wanted

used this product for a shelf for over the fire place. a beautiful piece of oak beam, couldn't be more pleased with the Celtic timber the way it was cut and shaped. thank you. Eric

Bought this oak beam back in 2017 to put a mantle back in our cottage dinning room. Arrived well packed and when opened we allowed it to stand for a couple of weeks before mounting on wall. Came with a small bottle of oil which looked rather small, surprisingly covered the entire beam. Made my own jig to mount and used the 4 supplied straight brackets which holds this very heavy piece of wood extremely well. Cracks did appear in the wood after a few months which has added to the character of the beam. A great product and have just ordered my second one to add character to our lounge.

I had been looking for a long time for something like this. I am really pleased as looks great! it is incredibly heavy and solid. better quality and look than expected to be honest. gave it a couple of coatings of oil and it is matching my oak furniture like a treat. because of the weight, we did have a few issues trying to fix it to the wall (too heavy for a plaster board wall, really) overall, very pleased with quality and appearance.

I make quite a bit of oak furniture myself and I was going to purchase a chunk of oak from a local timer yard. However, I decided to buy from Celtic Timber as the finish is already done for you and comes complete with suitable fixings. The oak arrived in a reasonable time to Guernsey especially with the current restrictions.My beam has been acclimatising in my lounge and will be installed this weekend.
