Far from perfect but good for the price.
I bought this for my 7 year old son for Christmas. I had quite high hopes for this but overall I am a bit disappointed. The car looks nice and chunky which is good, and the overall design seems quite sturdy. The car runs from a rechargeable battery which is one of the reasons why I chose this item. The run time on a full charge is better than I expected, about 15 minutes but this does depend upon how and where the car is driven; rough ground with lots of spins etc drains the battery faster than driving smoothly on flat ground. The battery does charge quite quickly so not an issue. The battery compartment is flawed in my opinion. The cover has a rubber seal to prevent water entry and this cover is held in place by two rotating clamps. When driving over bumpy ground these clamps can get knocked round. I think this could have been designed better. The controls are not what you would probably be expecting. Instead of the usual controls, i.e, forward/reverse and left/right you simply have two forward/reverse sticks so it steers like a tank where the speed difference of the wheels makes it turn. This does enable 360 degree spins but to me it reduces the car-like character of the toy. My son doesn't seem to mind though.Performance wise it is actually a bit slower than i was expecting but less performance does mean longer run time so its a reasonable compromise. One feature I am disappointed with is the tyres. They are hard plastic which means the car skips wildly over every stone and bump due to having no suspension. It would have been better to have had softer rubber tyres but that would have ruined its floating ability due to the possibility of cuts and punctures. My review might be overly critical which I think is partly down to me comparing it to the proper rc cars (Tamiya etc) I had 25 years ago but they did cost much much more.Overall, it's quite good for the price and my Son likes it which is the main thing.

Not overly impressed by Nikko quality control
This is our fourth Nikko Vaporizer 2. The first was the blue version (not from Amazon) and worked fine for a few months and then had to be returned after the wheels started making a grinding sound. The second and third were replacements for the first (also blue) and both had the same issue with intermittent signal from the remote and these also went back.So this time we tried the red version from Amazon, this works ok, but seems a lot less powerful than the original blue one we had which could perform a 360 turn on grass, this one can't. This one is also significantly different from the previous ones we had. The controller is different, as is the battery and charger, and to change the battery you need to take the shell off. This leads me to think it's an older model.Overall I'm not that impressed with the quality control from Nikko, or that the product seems to differ from the blue version from another retailer, despite them both being advertised as the same product.

Excellent toy (for adults and children)
Purchased this as a Christmas present for my son and an additional one for the nephew (to avoid any fighting). They have worked a treat. The only warning I can give is if you purchase 2, don't use both at once as the remote will control both cars and though I tried to avoid the fighting. I inadvertently caused it. The amount of confusion this caused 2 kids was immeasurable. That said, despite this little problem, both cars worked a treat. The controls aren't standard as you'd get on a radio controlled car (1 stick for going back and forth and the other for left and right manoeuvres). Though there are still 2 sticks, one controls the 2 left wheels and the other controls the 2 right wheels. It takes a bit of getting used to but with it being 4 wheel drive, used in the right combination, you can get the car to spin around like crazy and it works well manoeuvring this in water. My son had a test drive in the bath and it worked wonders. A speedy and powerful vehicle and the added bonus of having all required batteries included. A great christmas present that put a smile on many faces.

This Product (and any other NIKKO) carries no warranty at all. Be very careful.
Initially this product is great. However, if it breaks forget a replacement or repair. Toy State do not have a warranty on the product. No warranty at all. So if it fails outside the first 28 days you're pretty much stuffed. Maybe you'll have some joy if it fails within 6 months, but only if Amazon (or another retailer you buy it from) plays ball.Bought it during the Black Friday sale 2015 as a Christmas present. We had limited use and only on one occasion was it used in water - actually during last years Boxing days floods - Then a few times over the next few months through summer. Then it stopped. Just nothing. Thought it was the battery but it's not. So I contacted Toystate to ask about arranging a return for repair under warranty (you'll note from the date I write this review whilst the purchase is still less than 12 months. This is the reply I got:"We do not have warranty on our products.Thank you,Consumer ServiceToy State Marketing ( USA ) Inc."Needless to say I will not ever be buying another Nikko product. Which is a shame, because when it worked it was fun.

Well impressed
A brilliant RC car.Big chunky tyres, good strong body & pretty nippy.Supplied with a rechargeable battery pack & charger for the car, also a 9v battery for the handset.Decent battery life... Kids will probably get distracted first, fast charge too.The remote has a soft flexible arial so should stand up to children. The controls are like tank levers.... Each lever controls a side of the car, both need to be forward to go straight, one forward & one back means it's spins on the spot.... Easy to get the hang of.Nice and powerful, easily copes with long grass in the garden, terrifying on carpet, slips on tiles & Lino. One of the best RC cars we've boughtOnly down sides are.... No soft bumper to cushion impacting into your beautiful furniture & the car doesn't self right... It's so powerful & it can climb so it easily throws itself over.
