This trap is honestly brilliant! We hung it at the back of the garden and filled it with some standard fruit juice and wasps were attracted instantly! We had a full trap after just a week of it being out. The more the mixture the ferments the better and they just keep coming. We can now enjoy our garden without them bothering us, they even chose to go to the trap over a BBQ! Cannot recommend it enough. Easy to use and looks decent hanging outside due to its colour and shape.

So impressed with these. I’ve a plumb tree overhanging my garden fence from next door neighbour right outside my kitchen door. With this heat the plumbs are dropping and attracting horrendous numbers of wasps so had to keep the door closed. Put these up yesterday afternoon and less than a day later they’re pretty full of now dead wasps. I’m amazed. Great product

We've had a rather unexpectedly high number of wasps buzzing around our home and garden since early May - certainly more than previous years. So based on the generally positive reviews here I decided to buy these traps, load them with the recommended mixture and hang them in my garden well away from my conservatory and home windows. That was 2 weeks ago, and to date I have trapped 2 wasps, 4 flies and roughly 30 bees! Fortunately, I managed to release the bees before suffering a watery grave. But all the same this is not what I was expecting or hoping for. And what I noticed even more was when the solution started to dry out in the May sunshine, to form a sticky "goo" at the bottom of the traps, it just attracted more and more bees! I have decided, therefore, to take them down and re-position elsewhere in my garden to see if that will attract the wasps and flies once and for all. With that in mind I wasn't sure what kind of rating to give here. Both traps arrived in good time, and with no damage. The instructions were generally okay, especially the mixture recipe - which does work - and they are an effective deterrent: the only problem is that it is attracting the wrong kind of critter! Perhaps I will get lucky by the relocation. But at present the traps do work, just not for me (or the bees!) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATED 14th August 2017 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well just over 2 months since writing this review, I have to say that I am now hugely impressed with these traps! I relocated them to another part of my garden, and I have to say they have both been very effective trapping and killing both flies and wasps in their dozens! Regrettably a couple of bees suffered as well, but certainly not in the same volume compared to my experiences back in June. And what I have noticed is that the longer you keep the mix in the traps, the more attractive it becomes to wasps and flies! Plus, the dead flies and wasps within the traps act as a further magnet for more of the same, to the point where there must have been at least 50 or 60 dead insects in each vessel before I eventually had the messy & sticky task of cleaning them out and resetting for the next round. So if you find your traps are not doing anything for the first couple of weeks, don't change anything! Let the mix "mature" over time, and it will eventually attract the critters in their droves. Have up-rated my score from 2 stars to 4.

Amazing and really work! I think these are probably now unavailable because I keep telling everyone about them! I’ve now got six of them dotted around and they work a treat! Only issue is waiting for the wasps to die so you can clean it out and start again! Just put the mixture in the bottom, hang it up and the wasps will flock there. They climb inside and then can’t get out. We’ve no mixture left in some of them but the wasps keep coming! Have been a life saver as we had so many wasps around our front door. Image is from a fresh one we put out, and within an hour it looked like this!

Have literally sat, eating, 3 foot away from these and not been bothered by wasps or hornets, whilst these have them swarming around and then neatly captured. Only issue, they have trapped so many we need to empty and refresh them every other day and although we have it down to a fine art, the size of the hornets it catches is terrifying!

Works exceptionally well , the liquid they supply work amazingly well, don’t get it on your hands etc as you’ll suddenly make lots of yellow and black friends . Place it well away from your motorhome etc as it does attract them from quite a distance .

Bought these to hang in the garden and catch wasps. I baited them with a great solution for wasps, it's been really effective at attracting wasps in to the pots, but either my local wasps are brainy little things or the traps are too easy to escape. I found quite quickly, within an hour of setting up, that the first trap had 6 wasps inside all going mental. Only 1 had dipped in to the liquid at the bottom and got stuck, the rest were sticking their little feelers out of every hole they could find. Eventually there were 4, then 3, then 2 wasps in the pot. The little s*** had escaped! They had systematically worked out where they came in and found a way out. To make matters worse, they were hanging around the sweet smelling bait ON THE OUTSIDE of the trap. To be clear, there were a few with lower IQ who did not escape. Don't get me wrong, after a few days there is a satisfying number of dead bugs inside both of them, but they aint fool proof. Any dead/trapped wasp is a good thing in my books, especially when you're having a party in the garden and you have small kids who lose their minds at the site of anything with more than 2 legs, but I was really hoping these pots would fool even Houdini. Maybe I need a bit more liquid in them, the second one has a drop more and does seem to have more dead bugs than the first... It just sucks when you watch one crawl out.

Op 4 dagen tijd 340 wespen in de 2 vallen, ja, ik was zó onder de indruk dat ik ze geteld heb! En dat met ordinaire Fanta. Morgen probeer ik het receptje dat bij de wespenval zat. Ik ben benieuwd!

UPDATED (June 2020): After a few years of use, the acrylic glue I used to seal the bottom melted off in the heat! It was a mess, I threw the traps away. I replaced them with something else last summer, and it wasn't as effective as these traps. So I purchased a new set for this year. One thing I'm happy about, I didn't have to seal the bottoms! It appears Aspectek read our many reviews, and used their own glue to seal the bottom portion. Perfect! I'm hoping it's long lasting glue, finger's crossed! I still stand by my bait recipe, it's magic when it comes to catching these little devils and great for repelling the bees! It occurred to me that I didn't mention how I applied the Vaseline to the openings. I use Q-Tips! You know the Q-Tips you probably hate, the ones that are loose? Those are the best to use, they act like tiny paint brushes and get underneath the entrance holes easier. Full disclosure, I have long slender hands/fingers. That helps to get the bottom holes/entrances. If I end up with chunks of Vaseline sticking out of the holes (which blocks the wasps from getting inside), I use a clean Q-Tip from the outside of the trap, and wipe the chunks out of the way. ORIGINAL REVIEW (Dec 2016): I purchased this April 2016, put them outside in May 2016 and retired them for the winter in Oct 2016. Here's how it went. After reading the reviews (thanks guys!) I decided I would be okay with the gap where the two plastic parts come together. I have a high heat glue gun with acrylic glue, so right out of the package, I sealed it up along the bottom. It took a bit of experimenting, but I figured out a recipe that the wasps seem to love. I use a glass measuring cup to mix it together, it's easier for pouring inside the trap. BAIT RECIPE It equals roughly ⅔ cup. Anything more then that, and you'll be spilling over. Ingredients: • 3 tbsp Sugar • 1 shot of Water • 1 shot of Cranberry Juice • 1 shot of Vinegar After you've dissovled the sugar: • 2 drops of Dawn Soap (or whatever dish soap you have on hand) NOTE: The reason for the soap? We're drowning these poor buggers and the soap breaks the surface tension; they can't escape once they've fallen in. Directions: 1. Mix all of the ingredients together with a fork until the sugar is completely dissolved. 2. Use 2 drops of Dawn Soap (or similar) and slowly mix it in, so you don't get suds. 3. While the trap is sitting on a level surface, slowly pour the mixture inside of it. I've never caught any bees with my recipe, I have caught flies. Thankfully my recipe appears too tangy for the bees! It's easy to rinse/clean; I also apply Vaseline to the inside of the entrance holes. If they try to escape, they can't get a proper grip. Both of the strings that hang the traps, snapped in half before the season was done. It seemed like the sun/heat dried them out until they were brittle, but the traps landed in the grass, so they didn't crack or break. I already had some cotton twine in the house, I used that to replace them no problem. I've trapped hundreds, if not thousands of wasps this season. It's not a perfect trap, but it's pretty close. If you don't have a hot glue gun, I'm not sure this would be worth purchasing. Hopefully I've helped you make an informed decision. Recommended with caution!
