Steel Dowel Plate 17 Holes Dowel Maker Steel Plate with Holes from 1/8 Inch to 5/8 Inch for Woodworking

I think calling this a dowel maker is confusing. If you want long smooth dowels this isn't what you want. However it is a super excellent peg maker. The plate I received is heavy steel with holes of the stated the dimension. The back side of the holes are slightly tapered so the peg can be driven freely through the plate. I use square stock and start with a hole slightly bigger that what I want the final peg to be. Couple quick taps and you are done. I can make short 3 inch pegs in a jiffy.Sjl

Accurate fractional dimensioning. Easy to use. Hard steel -- looks to be good for weekly use, though there are better options if you need dowels daily.

i tried drilling, hammering, slow, fast, working my way up diameters and it’s inconsistent and not a clean result, especially in hard woods.

Yes, it's nice, but I wish that it had larger holes like 3/4, 1, 1.25, and 1.5 inch.

I am a Diyer/weekend warrio, bought this item to make a few dowel mainly to use as re-enforcement for glue, no more than 6 inches. Dowel plate is dull, cant get smooth even dowel using hammer or drill. I dont know if I got a bad plate but now its to late to return.

i love the feel of this tool, solid, well made and should last a life time
