Very good ,happy with item .

I was really sick of not having a proper cake server for baked goods, and saw this one for about a fiver. Am well pleased with it so far - the weight of it feels quality, and it makes baked goods easy to slice and serve. Easy to clean as well (toss in dishwasher, comes out sparkling). I will say that the slice itself (not the handle, the handle is a great size and weight even for my boyfriend and I who have really different sized hands!) is a bit small. It's obviously not an issue as such on a cake or pie as you don't need it to be the same size as your slice, but there might be some trouble with lifting something that's not as easily held together - I used it on a fish pie and it was a bit messy. Not really the fault of the cake slice though!

Cake slice is sturdy and strong.

I purchased this cake slice to replace my existing slice which had a separate handle. Whilst this new item is made of one piece of metal, the handle is flat rather than cylindrical as hoped however it is flat. Always difficult when buying online to get exactly what you are looking for because you cant see and feel it. That said its an improvement on what it replaced and is not expensive. It has a serrated edge on 1 side and is easy to clean and store.

I'm updating my review as I've just used the cake slice again and it worked perfectly! (I'm not sure what went wrong the first time!!🙀.) So it DOES cut the cake as well as being a good lifting tool. Solidly built. Arrived promptly and in pristine condition. Would recommend.

Nice finish and weight.

The manufacturer boasts of a long establishment in Britain but this is made in China and not particularly well. The casting beneath the glossy surface is rough in parts and the edges required a prolonged hard scrub to clean them of the dirt left by the manufacturing process. The serrated cutting edge is a good idea but too thick and coarse for a sponge cake so you still need a knife. Similarly, the heavyweight nature of the implement makes it tricky to get neatly under the cut slice without crushing it toward the centre. For what is quite an expensive tool this should have been made with much more of a taper along its length to allow it slide easily under the cake whilst lifting it gently and progressively. A bit of a disappointment.
