(150 pcs)#8×1-1/2" Black Truss Head Wood Screws Quick Metal Self Tapping Zinc Oxide

The Black #8x1-1/4 Truss Head Screws I purchased appear well made and finished, were sold at a reasonable price ($9.99), and functioned well for my intended purpose. The only negative thing I would state is that the included bit is trash... soft metal which strips out far too easily. Thankfully, being a contractor, I had quality Phillips bits on hand.

We used these 5/8" screws to attach 3/4" thick strips of wood to steel bands that were perforated down their length with elongated holes. Inserted these screws through the back of the steel bands and they worked exactly as intended. They hold the decorative wood to the steel and it looks so much better than the raw steel bands. The steel bands strengthen the wood strips, and keep them from warping too. We could definitely recommend these screws for similar purposes.

These truss head screws were just what I needed. I was building a gaming room and I had ceiling planks made from laminate flooring that needed to be attached. I wanted something that would hold the planks securely and simultaneously, appear rustic or perhaps the feeling of a wooden ship's hull. The head of these screws were both wide and shallow. I needed this as the gaming room was in an area with limited height of just 6' 4". I had to install ~600 screws total. I never broke a single screw, so they were strong. However, I gave 4 stars due to the fact that the shallow depth of the head meant that I could not mechanically drive the screws in without clocking out. Remember, this was overhead, so I was also working against gravity. Perhaps if I had a driver with a very slow clutch with high torque, or facing downward, I could have driven them with a driver. Instead, I drove all 600 screws by hand (I pre-drilled the laminate planks but did not pre-drill the rafters (unless I ran into the occasional knot). They drove exceedingly well even with just hand power. I had bought a package of 500 and then 200. As I broke none of them, I have 100 left which I will likely use on some rustic barn doors too. These worked well putting up white hardboard paneling in a garage. There's not much grab in the truss head Phillips, so had to be careful to not strip, but I couldnt find another style drive. Pleased.

We used these screws to help install our new Govee Pro Lights. The screws that come with the black colored wires and lights (and thus black wire clips) are silver - and we wanted black screws to match better. Plus we wanted them to be Pan Head and self tapping screws. Technically we should have used a size #6 (but we couldn’t find those at a reasonable price) so we were fingers crossed and hoping these #8s would fit and they did! Phew! I can’t really vouch either way for the “self tapping” feature. My hubby still pre-drilled each hole a little bit first before using the impact driver to put the screws in (I think I’m saying that all correctly?), he just wasn’t sure he wanted to “risk it” with the whole self-tapping thing… I mean he’s up on a ladder and drilling into our soffits which can’t be replaced or even really repaired ya know? And it’s a long way up and down the ladder each time so the thought of screws falling off his drill/driver head and into the long grass or snow yadda yadda… So that’s the reasoning for not being able to comment on that aspect specifically. The screws worked great. They fit perfect. They look great. They’re holding as they should. They were easy to use. They fit in his driver well. Once I got hubby to put them in a magnet cup while he was working then he never lost another one cuz they stuck to the magnet quite nicely lol… So definitely 5 Stars.
