This is a wonderful and entertaining series, and our nine year old grandson absolutely loved them. I would read one or two chapters each night to him at bedtime, and he always begged for more.

I read this to my 11 year old German son and we both loved it. We read the original over a year before and we'd forgotten some of the details so we read the original again and then followed with this book again. The book gives you a real sense of how life was 100 years ago and how the simple mannerisms we take for granted today weren't known then. Yep, a really great read!!

From my 10-year old daughter: "This book kept me on my toes the entire time. It was awesome, and I finished it in 2 1/2 days. I highly recommend this book for kids my age."

Not the usual adventures we read but very well written and descriptive. Really evocative of time and place when the action is in the past Well defined characters. Some nice plot twists . The time travel plot is challenging my son to think some "what if's" . A pleasure to read . My son enjoyed it a lot
