Upon opening this it looks just like the pictures online. It works great but after using it for about an hour the batter was moving around inside and causing it to send a false reading (in the air). I bought this for my 11year old so it’s perfect for him but if I were experienced at this then I would definitely want a better quality one of these but if your just looking to use it for fun or the kids it’s perfect! The price was perfect for what your getting, the spiral cord that holds the metal detector and the shovel is nice quality it’s good and strong(and helpful it came with a small hand shovel). The shovel it comes with is perfect size, nice thick plastic so it doesn’t brake easy.The pair of sunglasses was his first find, but you can see how it does not pick up until I get it just write hands. It’s great for beginners or for quick vacation fun but not somebody who is looking to dig or find lost treasures.

I finally got the chance to take this to the beach. I dragged it around for a half hour, but didn't find anything (quite surprising!). I threw a coin down into the sand, and dragged this right up to it, and it didn't sound until it was literally on top of it. After doing a little research, it seems that this is much more of a pin-pointer, in that you really need the ground sweep detector to find something, and then use this to pinpoint exactly where to dig. It's waterproof, which is great for dragging along the water line.It certainly feels well-made, and the accessories that come with it are not cheesy.If you're looking for a unit to supplement your ground sweep metal detector, this unit will do just fine.I'm looking forward to taking it to my dock area and searching for "treasure" at low tide around the slips!Recommended for what it was built for.

It seems to work fairly well but I don't think you can detect any metallic objects under 3" of cover unless it's the size of an automobile. But it will find metal if waived across a body (like a frisk search) or if covered by an inch or so of loose soil. For the price I am pleased with this purchase.
