Ring Doorbell Review – A Smart Upgrade for Home Security
I’ve been using the Ring Doorbell for a few months now, and it’s made a noticeable difference in how secure and connected I feel at home. Installation was surprisingly simple—even for someone who’s not particularly handy. The instructions were clear, and the app guided me through every step. The video quality is sharp during the day, and the night vision works well enough to clearly see visitors after dark. I especially like the motion alerts, which notify me any time someone approaches the door. This feature has been great for monitoring package deliveries and deterring unwanted visitors. The two-way audio is also a standout. I can talk to delivery drivers or even ward off suspicious people without opening the door. The app integration is smooth, and I like being able to review recorded footage if I miss an alert. My only minor gripe is that the motion sensitivity can be a bit touchy, sometimes triggering for passing cars or dogs. But after a bit of tweaking in the settings, I got it to a comfortable level.Overall, the Ring Doorbell has been a solid investment for peace of mind and home security. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to upgrade their front door with smart tech.

Great security solution
This has been a very good security upgrade for my home. It replaces a Ring Doorbell 2 (2017). The Ring Battery Doorbell Plus (latest model) has head-to-toe visuals, plus the ability to see (and be notified of) a package being delivered to my front porch. The wide-angle view and night-vision features are great, too. The install was easy since I already had a Ring battery-opperated doorbell in place. The screw holes lined up perfectly to quickly install the new Doorbell (though I did use the included angled plate from the new product). And the battery is the same, so I didn't need to buy another one to have as a spare. I'm very pleased to have this upgraded product.

I'm Glad I upgraded to the battery pack Ring Camera!
I had to replace my older model with this battery pack Ring camera. Let me tell you the picture quality is beautiful and installation was very easy. I purchased an extra battery too so i can swap it them out without disrupting my security. The sound is clear and the notifications has been accurate with the motion detection. I'm glad I made this purchase for my safety and added security.

Update: Need to purchase the Chime device for battery doorbells.
Update May 2, 2025:I spent about an hour on the phone with Jess at Ring Customer Service. We went through the Ring settings in the Alexa app changing settings in the Echo Show. There were several setting changes and reboots on the doorbell. At the end of the call Jess suggested that I also reboot my Echo Show. That seems to be what was keeping me from hearing the announcement and the doorbell ringing through my Echo Show. Jess was very patient and polite throughout. She is definitely an asset to customer service.Bought this during the summer and finally got them installed about a week ago. I had purchased the Blink system previously. I wanted to try the sync module on the Blink system because I didn’t want to pay for the subscription. I can say that I think I am preferring the Ring system and I will be subscribing. I like that the ring view is in color and just seems clearer than the Blink system. I purchased 2 Spotlight Cams a few days ago but haven’t put them up yet due to the weather. What I DON’T like is that the doorbell doesn’t chime on my Echo Show devices. That’s why this is 4 stars. Now, apparently I need to purchase the Ring Chimes if I want to hear the doorbell ring. Really disappointed with that. I have the battery doorbells because my wired doorbell quit working. It appears that if you wire the ring, it will work with your wired doorbell chimes when someone rings the doorbell. I have searched and searched and it seems that they used to ring with the Echo Show devices but don’t anymore.

Almost perfect. If not for those pesky parts.
A+ for camera quality and wifi streaming. Night vision is excellent. BUT.I installed this unit the day I received it and the actual features and build quality of this Ring doorbell unit are much better than the Blink unit I’m replacing. Where it almost lost me was at the install. This unit comes with a wedge style plate that you can use as a template for drilling into almost any surface if you have a general idea of what you’re doing. I replaced my existing original door bell with this unit as a test to see if I liked it in that area enough to warrant eventually hardwiring it in. I have a brick veneer that I really didn’t want to have to drill into but glad Im glad that I did. Ad I found out after drilling new anchor holes that the supplied screws for the anchors were definitely not going to work for this install. The heads are wayyyyy too small for the slots of the accompanied wedge plate. If you don’t plan on tightening them down then the doorbell will sit loosely attached to the wall and will definitely slide around when the bell button is pushed. Which, might suite someone, sure. It was just such an odd short sided but major component of the install that I was having second doubts about the entire experience. But after finding an appropriate sized set of screws in my own “misc screws kit” the rest of set up and testing experience went smoothly. This is really the only negative aspect of this Ring unit. Which for the current price, one might think there would be sufficient quality testing of all components of this item before mass production. Also I would def recommend checking out some YouTube vids under the exact name of this doorbell as it’s listed. If you generalize it too much then you’ll be watching the wrong install videos. P.s. for those having a hard time with the wedge mount, the plate should face you with the screw holes facing you during the wall mount sequence. Upon mounting that portion to your wall or door, then remove the battery compartment and look for 4 screw holes on opposite sides of the battery. Those are the only 4 you need to screw to the plate for it to sit firmly in place. Also kinda weird that this isn’t plainly described or pictured enough in the printed or digital instructions imo.Tldr: doorbell quality and functionality seem leagues ahead of mounting kit and parts.I’ll eventually post photos soon to hopefully help others in my same boat.
