Ultimate Explorer Field Guide: Insects: Find Adventure! Go Outside! Have Fun! Be a Backyard Insect Inspector! Review: Colorful and has most common bugs - Love the pictures and descriptions! It’s a beautifully laid out book that’s great for kids. Definitely get the paperback, it has a sturdy plastic cover that you can throw in your backpack worry free. We are going to look for bugs all around the house and garden in the summer with the kids to identify! errata- the back cover mentions “color coded maps” inside but there are no maps in the book. Rather, there is a small statement that tells you where the bugs can be found on each insect description. Not sure where to report this error but hopefully they can fix it. I also wish the butterfly sections had pictures of the caterpillars also. Otherwise it’s a very handy book and I didn’t find anything else quite like it. Review: My 4 Year old Nephew is obsessed - I bought this for a bug crazy 4 year old for his birthday. We had to leave the party so he opened it first and that was a mistake because he didn’t want to open any other presents. He loved the colorful pictures. His mom texted me the next day and thought he had been sleeping in, but went to check on him and I guess he had been looking at the book for at least an extra hour or more. I was hesitant to buy such a “big kid” book; but I knew he would grow into it too. It’s got thick pages that will last and lots of info for mom or dad to read to him too. He takes it on his regular “bug safari”. I paired it with one of the “hatch your own butterfly” kits and a box of bug bandaids. I proudly hold the self given title of favorite aunt! I kind of now want a copy for myself…

Bug hunters love it
We use this for our explorer boys. They like bugs. They are always finding lil critters and trying to distinguish what it is. This book has been a great learning tool. Homeschool science is fun when its bug hunting.

Nice for kids
My kid loves this book! She is really into bugs. The book has a colorful photo of each insect and a short description. It also describes how dangerous they are to humans, which makes it even more appealing to kids.

Easy for young ones to use!
I bought this for my daughter because she loves bugs and being outdoors. She was so excited to get this and couldn’t wait to go hiking to search for bugs and to identify them. This book is great with it’s detailed pictures and ease of use for identifying popular insects. I would highly recommend this for your young outdoorsy kiddo.

but sturdy and the book is a good size--not too big ...
This is just what I was looking for to put in an explorer's backpack for my grandson. The cover is soft, but sturdy and the book is a good size--not too big and heavy to carry along. The pictures are great and it provides a lot of information, but not too much that it's overwhelming and textbookish. Good product and shipped quickly.
