I have not been able to use this product enough to see results since the smell is terrible. I have tried to overcome the smell, but it takes a long time to dissipate.

The Peace Out Dark Spots Serum is an effective dark spot treatment. Formulated with tranexamic acid. Akin to hydroquinone, tranexamic acid provides a potent anti-inflammatory reaction when topically applied, inhibiting tyrosinase synthesis in melanocytes. At the same time, it blocks the transfer of pigment from melanocytes to keratinocytes in the epidermis. In short, tranexamic acid helps prevent and fade the look of discolorations. Tranexamic acid also calms the skin and helps restore the skin barrier. This serum is specifically for discoloration. It is not intended to treat active breakouts. Because of the lifecycle of the skin and the degree of the darkness, it can take up to 12 weeks to see results. Still, TA is a highly effective brightening ingredient and treatment for post-acne redness/post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. To further prevent discoloration and help boost the results of the tranexamic acid, you will want to use SPF regularly. Especially when using anything that will sensitize you more to UV (e.g., exfoliants, intense actives/acids, anti-discoloration). The skin reacts to UV by tanning, burning, freckling, etc. Acne (and scarring) will also darken in response to protect the 'wound,' which is essentially what a pimple is. The serum is an off-color yellowish-cloudy gel with excellent spreadability. Does have a smell, but they don't add fragrance. Nothing noteworthy or unpleasant. Doesn't linger. It isn't heavy, sticky, greasy, or causes me to be shiny. I have mature (over 40), fair, sensitive, combo-to-dry skin. This didn't cause any breakouts or flares. Not drying, but I use moisturizer (and SPF in the AM) regularly.

This serum is very powerful and should not be used on sensitive skin. I tried it on my face, neck and upper chest area and woke up with a stinging rash and chemical burn on the thinner skin on my neck and chest. Two days later and my skin is still stinging like a bad sunburn. I normally have very resilient skin so I was surprised at the immediate reaction. I would suggest using sparingly. The smell is also fairly sour.

The first thing I noticed was the not very pleasant smell as I was applying the serum; it dissipates away after applying moisturizer. I haven’t seen my dark spots fading yet, but it’s only been a few days.
