Pricy, but coin and case are flawless. Great luster in the 2023 design.
You can get these Koala's cheaper almost anywhere else. But I had my reasons for buying this coin on Amazon even though I knew that. I was expecting the coin or case to probably have issues like "toning" which is a euphemism for "tarnished," or minor scratches on the case based on previous experience with this vender and some bullion Silver Eagles I bought a few years ago. So this seller redeamed themselves in my eyes. But honestly, there is really no excuse for these Koala's to be anything other than perfect because unlike Silver Eagles, these are supposed to be flawless and come directly from the Perth Mint in the case because Australia considers them to be more of a "collectors coin" even though they are technically "bullion." But that doesn't stop venders from reselling coins that have been neglected. You should accept nothing less than perfect because when you try to sell them back to a dealer you won't typically get much more than $1-$2 over silver spot for them. That's right, the $10-$20 over spot you pay for them evaporates down to $3 over spot at best and $0.00 over spot at worst when you try to resell them. So they better be beautiful and flawless because you will probably NEVER make your money back. Yes, silver COULD go up to $50 and you COULD make a few bucks of profit, but that has NEVER happened in US history. It came close only 2 times. 1) the week of April 25th, 2011 coming out of the Great Recession silver hit $47.94 for less than 24 hours, and 2) January 18,1980, it reached an all-time high of $49.45/oz due to the Hunt Brothers market manipulation. Both times it crashed by $10+ within 48 hours. and never recovered. If I had a quarter for every time someone predicted even $100/oz I would have enough money to buy 100kg of silver, lol. Even during the 2021-2023 inflation, people were tossing around predictions of $100 silver like it was a sure bet, (even $500-$750!), but it never even cracked $30 which was more like $5-$6 in 1980. It is much more likely to hit $15 and stay there for decades before it takes another wack at even $50. My point is this: buy these coins with huge premiums because they are beautiful and you plan on looking at them often. And this year of the Koala has a uniquely spectacular luster. Don't buy them to put in a safe that you only open once a year expecting some day the economy will crash and you will be rich. In fact, if things get REALLY BAD silver doesn't historically go up, IT TANKS! Look at COVID. On March 19, 2020 when the stock market was falling off a cliff, so was silver. It dropped to $12.15/oz, down from $17.47 just 2 weeks before when COVID was still "just a problem in China." And during the banking collapse in 2008 it dropped from $18.17 on July 21st to just $9.76/oz on Nov. 17, 2008 when it looked like we were going into a 2nd Great Depression. Who knows how far silver would have collapsed if we had. Buy this coin because the Perth Mint produced a really beautiful coin in 2023 and you plan on looking at it, not put it in a box and forget about it. I would post a picture but you have to see it in-the-real to appreciate the difference compared to previous years.

Exactly What I Ordered
The Australian Silver Koala Coin is very sharp looking. It’s much shinier than it appears to be in the Amazon description. I ordered the LED lit coin presentation box at the same time and they both came today. The encapsulated one ounce coin fits well in it resting place and there’s room behind the LED light for the coin’s certificate of authenticity. The LED light prevents the face of the coin from showing up in the first photo but it really looks great in the second photo. I am very pleased with both purchases and plan on giving the coin and box as a Christmas gift.
