The ride of a lifetime
This book took suspense to a new level. The twist and turns of the story only adds to the suspense and once you hit chapter 40ish the suspense sky rockets and you can kiss putting this book down.Definitely recommend!I read this book in two days during one of the busiest time of my summer and I can confidently say I would do it all again. As a someone who normally reads romance this has made me want to read more mystery and definitely more of this author. So grab your tissues and a comfy spot and take the ride of a lifetime with this astonishing story that is sure to surprise you with every turn of the page.

A Slow Mystery
When you first begin this, you start to think that this is going to be a protagonist who must push their way through a night of difficulty in a psych, and as that may be true, it’s slowly unfolds an unlikely situation created by the protagonist herself.Although very slow towards the middle of the book, the mystery definitely picks up towards the last 10 chapters. There was a lot of movement in the book through time, which made it quite difficult to read continuously as I found the need to want to take breaks as I process the two different timelines constantly flip-flopping every other chapter. Even with the obstacle, it was still a lovely read, and it definitely wondering and wanting to continue so I could find out the end result.

Fun Book
I have been reading some heavy books. Even though this was a thriller, it helped to clear my head of some the historical fictions that I love but rather bring me down. I love that I figured out some of the ending even before I finished the book. I do think of myself as a great detective.

Dark and Twisted
This one just wasn't my favorite. It was well written, well done - but I saw the twist coming so early on - I was kind of hoping I was wrong, though.Amy Brenner, a med student, is required to spend the night in Ward D for her rotation. Ward D just so happens to be the hospitals inpatient unit for mental health, a place Amy has visited once before and swore to never go to again. Some of the hospital's most dangerous patients reside there, and the ward is locked - requiring a code to get in and out. After much reluctance and dread, Amy heads to the ward for her shift, and finds her ex boyfriend there to boot. When checking in on the patients, Amy meets some who are terrified they wont make it through the night, all dreading the same person - a person who is confined in a special seclusion room. Amy also happens to recognize one of the names in the unit - one who knows too much about Amy's past. As the hours tick by, people start to go missing, and Amy has few people she can trust. Will she make it through the night?I thought the overall story was good - but the fast that I knew what was coming from when Amy sent her first text message, I was a little deflated by everything. Not only that, but some of the descriptions of the patients and mental health in general seemed a bit outdated. I did like the twist on the very last page - that was a good way to end it!Overall, not my favorite, but definitely worth a read!

A thrilling read that keeps you guessing! My Spoiler Free Review
Ward D was a quick intriguing read! I liked our characters even though I didn’t know who to trust half the time. The storyline/characters really make you go back and forth on who you should be really trusting, who lying, and what’s really going on at the ward. Freida mcfadden does a really good job of writing interesting characters that truly make you flip flop on who to take seriously. I hadn’t guessed what was happening but I did have a bit of a suspicion with some of the characters. I also liked the ending/epilogue it was a nice addition plus it could kind of be interpreted as open ended (at least to me) as I can imagine how things would play out further down the line. Overall I liked how things had played out, the twist and characters were both enjoyable to read. It was a fun thrilling novel that keeps you guessing!

Different storyline!
I loved the different story line for this book, definitely it of the norm of what I've grown to expect from McFadden. It was great until she tried pulling in a twist at the last minute that I don't think was super necessary to end the book.
