Big power and suction for a price that's hard to beat.
I'm impressed, and so happy I went with this model over another brand I was thinking about. The only thing I could see bothering some people is the weight, its very heavy, which could be bad for someone that struggles with heavy lifting. Otherwise the weight feels good. It has a strong suction that you can feel as it pulls it tight to the carpet. The power button is in the best spot ive seen on a vacuum. Ive been without a vacuum for a couple weeks as my last one went out and Ive been shopping around. After one pass, my carpet is clean and looks new and fluffy again. I could find more nice things to say about it, but i'll stop there. If you're budget is around $300 and you dont cafe about the weight, you wont be dissapointed.

This Vacuum Sucks (A Compliment)
In 2008 my husband and I purchased a Kenmore Upright Vacuum Cleaner. It worked very well and we didn't need to take it in for very many repairs. This year (2023) it reached its retirement age.I researched various vacuums for features, product reviews, complaints, and prices. I also subscribe to a magazine the tests and reviews products and does not accept any advertising, and put together a spreadsheet to help me make a decision.I chose the Kenmore Elite because it satisfies my needs. When it arrived the box was intact (very important to me). Inside, the ends of both the top and the bottom were securely held in place by heavy-duty styrofoam and each of the attachments was separately wrapped in plastic. A kudo for this product, practically everything inside is recyclable!!! Our cats also enjoy playing in it.The owner's manual is right on top so it can be read before removing the entire item from the box.The assembly was a snap. The only tool required is a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw from the bottom element, attach the top, and screw them together. The top and bottom were easy to join and fit together very snugly. The screw is long and that gave me confidence that the vacuum won't fall apart with use.The height adjuster has five settings: "high" and "med high" for bare floors, "I" for medium pile carpeting and "med lo" and "lo" for carpets. I checked it out and could see the suction head going up and down and the brushes "retracting". The "lo" setting can also be used on bare floors. There are two bright headlights that make it easy to see what you are vacuuming, and a dirt sensor that lights up to let you know if you're catching everything. The total length of the power cord is 40 feet long (from the outside of the vacuum to the plug), of which the first two feet is the distance from the outside of the vacuum cleaner to the floor. That's long enough to clean our great room and part of the back bedroom without having to move the plug from place to place. It has three attachments that fit on the vacuum when they're not in use: a long crevice tool, a combination brush and the "Pet Handimate". The first attachment is pretty obvious. The combination brush has a removable brush for cleaning drapes, and stairs (bare and carpeted). The Handimate is 5.5 inches long and 4.25 inches wide and has two sets of revolving brushes. Also included is a telescopic wand that is 17 inches long and can be extended to 26 inches. The wand also has notches every 3/4 of an inch so that if you don't need the whole length you can choose your length and the button will snap securely into place. The hose is 22 inches long and has a suction control on it.The Elite also has performance/safety features: a thermal protector for the suction motor; a thermal protector for the agitator (brush) motors; a by-pass valve that protects motor overheating and damage; and an agitator overload protector should the agitator slow down or stops because of a jam.It also contains an exhaust filter in the back and the dust bag is in the front. Both are easily reachable and changing the bag and filter take no time at all. I change mine every couple of months because we have two cats. Replacement filters and dust bags can be purchased from the manufacturer but there are less expensive alternatives available from other websites. There's also a Help Line that is available Mondays through Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m (EST).I tried in on our inside front door mat (the bristly kind) and it worked liked a dream. In just a few minutes it removed everything. I did have to go back and forth a few times in a couple of places but that's to be expected on something that traps dirt from the outside. It's very quiet and very light and using the well-placed and well-designed carrying make it simple to be carried up or down the stairs.I very highly recommend the Kenmore Elite Vacuum Cleaner and encourage everyone who is considering a vacuum replacement to choose this one. If you have an old Kenmore the attachments may fit on this new one (one less thing to buy). One thing that I would recommend is to find an "exploded" view that lists the parts and their names (but no part number), in the event that you may need to replace something beyond the attachments, filters and dust bags.

'Heavy' in the non-'60's sense
Works well. I like that it has gadgets, gizmos, and ways to know how much dirt has been picked up. DOWNSIDE: It weighs a TON! I gave away an old vacuum that just didn't pick up dirt, etc. and couldn't be adjusted to the height of the carpet. But it was 1/4 (or less) the weight of this new machine. My wife - who is sufficiently strong for a 5'3", 115lb 80 year old - couldn't possibly move it around. Lucky her! I'll be doing all the vacuuming from now on. AND building up the muscles on my right arm.

The Best Vacuum for Quality and Price
I have had this vacuum for about 7-8 months and i must say, it is one of the best vacuums i have ever had.Despite it requiring bags, i find myself not needing to buy them almost ever. Since i bought this vacuum i have only changed the bag once.As for its power, it is unrivaled. Everytime i vacuum my carpet it has no issues getting dirt and grime out. I would also like to mention how it is also usable on hardwood floors. (Just make sure the brush is not running or you will wear it out) And when i need that extra push to pick up a bigger piece of food or dirt, i simply turn the brush on to suck it up real quick. The HEPA filter in it is also an awesome feature. I find whenever i vacuum it feels like the air is cleaner and safer to breathe. The feature of being able to lay the vacuum flat to get underneath coffee tables or furniture is another nice touch.Lastly id like to add that the cord on this vacuum has a lot of range. I can vacuum from my kitchen to my bedroom and back.Overall i give this vacuum 5 stars, its easy and intuitive to use and has many useful features. The power is clear as day and it filters the air you breathe as you vacuum. This vacuum is clearly made to last and gives the best bang for your buck. I bought mine used and it delivered like new. I recommend this to anyone who prefers suction power and quality over small and agile vacuums. Its also great for cleaning up kids messes.

Kenmore elite
This is a beast! I have only used this one time and I really see the difference. It has powerful suction and really seems to clean the carpet. I like the dirt indicator that tells me where the dirt is so I can go over again. I previously had the $99 Bissell wind tunnel that burned up. I was reluctant to buy Miele because the cost. I hate spending the money but got the Kenmore for $269. I am glad I did.*the cord length is substantial, but not retractable, the cord is fairly heavy too and tends to curl up when using.*it could have a longer hose when you use the extension for those corners, the pole part is good with crevice tool.*it’s heavy, a little hard to manage in small areas, but really as powerful suction.*I have used it on area rugs and carpet, have not on hardwood.*love the light to see where you vacuum*all in all it’s meant and exceeded my expectations, but beware you will get a work out using it.*only wish it would go under the bed and furniture.
