I’ve been very happy with “Pond Guy” products and they have good customer service, and if you buy something from them you intermittently get an old-fashioned “catalogue” of their other products as a continuing bonus. This particular filter bag works great. You should buy a size larger than you need since appearance doesn’t matter underwater. I had to return the first one I purchased since it was too small to fully enclose my underwater pump (my fault, not the product) so I exchanged it for a larger one with no difficulty. That has been working underwater for about six months now with no complaints. I have since purchased other “Pond Guy” products and have been happy with their brand on all occasions.

This is a good bag to buy with a new pump. The bags that come with the pumps are not great, very cheap. This bag will last years, lets a good flow in. Some advice, don't let this bag come near the pump, put some filtering material around the pump. If you do, it will limit the flow to the pump quickly if you have some typical dirty pond water with leaves. This bag is for big stuff. Pretty sure it will not stop snails from getting to the pump. Nothing but a big dose of chlorine will do that.

I'm using this to surround my canister intake, because a pre-filter sponge was too fine and kept clogging. I used a plastic Lacy cube ornament as a support structure, and the hack works pretty well, except it keeps coming loose at the drawstring, despite tying knots. I'm concerned that fry will get in there and get sucked up by the filter. For use inside a filter (the intended use for this product), a plastic zipper would work better than a drawstring, albeit a bit more expensive. For this little hack, plastic snaps would be handy, or perhaps velcro. I think velcro would work for holding filter media, too. One thing I love is that the material naturally grows biofilm, which increases filtration, and my live barriers love to graze.

We've experienced multiple pump failures due to the debris that consistently accumulates on them. This small bag is ingenious for keeping all the pond debris away from your pump. It allows you to effortlessly remove the pump from the water and rinse it off without having to detach the bag. The pump has functioned flawlessly, and the bag has remained securely fastened for several months now without any issues.
