This was bought as a replacement for a digital oven cooker which cooked using infra-red as well halogen and convection. On seeing this one I could not believe the reasonable price and for this reason I nearly did not buy it but I kept going back to the website until I finally decided to give it a try and I am glad I did. This machine looks better and has more functions than other expensive makes with the added safety of a hinged lid. I do not have a 'normal' cooker so this oven has got to pull its weight which it does and more. Because I do most of my cooking in the oven it is usually the halogen element (bulb) which dies probably due to the amount of use, The Andrew James oven comes supplied with a replacement bulb and a two year guarantee as well as lots of cooking trays, a cake/rice cooking tin and cookery book. I have not had it for very long but have cooked most things in it; roasts a chicken to perfection and at the other end of the scale - cheese on toast; brilliant. Cooking with the oven is fast, in fact this is the fastest oven I have owned and I have had a few different makes over the years, and easy to use. I am so happy with the Andrew James oven I have bought the Andrew James coffee machine with grinder. Andrew James sells quality products at reasonable prices.

Update to my review of 2 years ago. I've changed my star rating to 5 for two reasons - 1. The unit worked faultlessly for 2 years, and we used it for almost everything. Absolutely brilliant product. 2. And this is the clincher. The fan failed 1 month past the 2 year guarantee. I emailed Andrew James asking what could be done to fix the fan - they responded by saying 'As the product was only a month outside the guarantee period they would send me a new one. How's that for customer service? Not many, if any companies would respond so. Thank you Andrew James - brilliant product and customer service.Only got the oven 2 days ago. Switched it on immediately to ensure that It was working and that I didn't have the flashing E1 error that a few people have mentioned. All OK. However the next morning, joint of pork in hand, got the E1 error and the most horrendous beeping noise. Anyway, after lots of fiddling, not quite sure how, but it started working. And then it cooked what was probably the best joint of pork I personally have ever done - brilliant!However next morning E1 yet again, and this time it would not go away. Contacted Andrew James, who were polite and extremely efficient. Attempted a reset as instructed by the Technical Service Rep. but no joy. Two minutes later they'd emailed me a Returns label and all the necessary details to send the oven back and receive a replacement. Later today as I began to repack the oven I was foolish enough to try it once more, and it worked! Now, I didn't know whether to send it back or not. So I put my thinking cap on - two mornings running, two cold mornings, it wouldn't work, and then later in the day it was OK. Could it be the cold I asked myself. Right I thought, its working now but what if I stick it in the cold out the garage for half an hour. Sure enough, it stopped working after only 30 mins in the cold.So its gone back, and I'm waiting for my new one. Once I've got that, and I know its working, I'll update my review.In summary:----------------------Cooking - did my pork brilliantly and I'm really looking forward to using my shiny new WORKING oven. The hinged lid is a real benefit compared to the ones that you need to put on the side.E1 error - just my bad luck I suppose, but it is something AJ needs to look into.Andrew James Customer/Technical Service - so far, first rateOnly one gripe, bought it Friday and they dropped the price by a tenner Sunday, again just my bad luck

This is a replacement for our original Andrew James hinged -lid halogen, which eventually failed due to rust. Sad day and then discovered that Andrew James had stopped trading. Nobody else made these type of halogen oven.Looked at a Remoska but realised they are really quite small and much slower. We tried an air-fryer - too small and fiddly, and you couldn’t see what was happening inside without opening it and losing expensive heat. So went back to halogen, one with a removable lid. What a nuisance to have to keep a large chunk of precious work top space free and dry just for the burning hot lid. Hated it but put up with it - until by chance saw this one was back - hooray!This is almost as good as the original, some little differences but nothing to worry about. Price has doubled but no doubt it will be because the original company no longer exists. Still think it’s worth it as it’s in use every day - saves such a lot of time and energy.No preheating - put food in, close lid and turn on. My scones and sponge cake are better than in the conventional fan oven.Still has the handy presets for time and temperature. Still comes with a spare bulb. Still comes with a set of accessories (we kept our others as spares, including the glass bowl).I did note what one reviewer said about slackening off the screws for the metal bulb cover before using the oven for the first time to avoid them seizing later, and did that. Thank you to them.I also take care to lift the lid up after cooking and wipe away any condensation to slow down any rust. So easy to clean, even after doing a whole English breakfast or roast dinner.Love it.
