Black Diamond Unisex Big Air Belay/Rappel Package

Have friends with this set/combination so knew what to expect. Well made, sturdy. Happy with it.

Appears to be good quality and with the right markings. Its a nice easy device to Rappel with, nothing complicated in how to use it which in my book wins over more complicated devices, were there is a risk of doing something wrong in the procedure of setting the device up, especialy when it needs to be deployed quickly.

Exactly as described. Great basic set and good value when I bought it. I generally prefer this style of belay as it gives a bit more friction on the rope.

A great basic belay device, feels great quality and you feel you can trust it when dangling on a rope. A perfect entry level, easy to use belay device.

These are pretty much the defacto standard when it comes to belay devices; I looked at some of the other devices on the market for my first one but as this one comes with the locking clip i thought i would go for it. After a few weeks of having this package I'm finding that the carabiner does have a slight tendency to cross-load (particularly when the rope is slack); when compared to the similar DMM Aero HMS which my climbing buddy has. To fix this i'm thinking I will get a bottom locking device like the Black Diamond Gridlock Screwgate . The belay device itself its pretty good with a nice amount of friction when its locked; and a easy flow when playing rope in. You do; however have to turn it round when belaying children because they just aren't heavy enough to overcome the friction of the teeth.
