This set is very nice and has a good case with it. It comes with everything you need to begin your experience of becoming a sketch artist. With not only the sketch pads or differet sizes and types of paper, but also the different pencil shades and other tools to help with shading and bleeding and blending. This is great quality and an amazing product. It is good not ony for beginners, but also more experienced artists too.

This was purchased as a gift and it was such a great value for the money. We do a budget but I always like to get items that seem like they’re worth more. And this item fulfilled that!

I carry this all the time

I am retired and have a few hobbies. I have been getting into watercolor and in order to do better with my watercolor, I need to practice my sketching. Especially since it is spring going into to early summer and I am getting fond of going "plein air" to watercolor (that means watercoloring outdoors). I have a pretty lake very near my home, so a short drive and I am sitting by the lake, picking out the view I'd like to sketch and then watercolor. It's a great way for me to get outdoors, enjoy the fresh spring/early summer air (before it gets too hot) and get some needed sun without working too hard! It's fun, it gets me outside and I'm enjoying myself so that's a good thing! This set gives me all the tools I need to practice with and I did buy a couple of books on drawing and getting better at sketching so...let's hope I can learn by doing with this whole set of pencils and of course the kneadable eraser!

This is a pretty nice set and would be great for any beginner. It's got everything you need to start drawing and sketching and everything is decent quality. I was a bit disappointed with the tutorial- I was expecting a booklet, but it's loose pages that only give step by step instructions for one drawing, and the written instructions don't make any sense. But, there's another set of sheets that include different images with a beginning sketch for each, and even though those aren't step by step guides, they're nice to have for practice. The pencil sharpeners are on the cheap side and one of the erasers was unwrapped and really dirty. Also, the case holding the charcoal sticks was broken. The main case is nice enough, but it has a strange image printed on the back. Since it's kind of difficult to get everything in and out of its individual slot, I will probably not use the case. But if you're wanting something you can carry with you and keep everything organized, it will work just fine. Overall, it's a pretty good set, but I don't think it's nice enough to gift to someone. I'm happy to add it to my stash of supplies though.

My drawing habit is becoming a bit of an obsession and this kit just made it worse! I was so excited opening this kit and getting a look at all of the items included! The kit is very nicely made and each piece has its place.I’m very familiar with graphite pencils, but I’ll admit I didn’t even know that there was a 12B or 14B. How exciting!This kit is chock full of useful and well thought out drawing and sketching items. The sketch paper feels heavy and I like the rough texture. The gray, tang, and black toned papers are very nice quality too. The step-by-step guidebooks and drawing practice cards are amazing! I’m a visual learner and these will be so helpful.I don’t think you can ever have too many blending stumps, erasers and pencil sharpeners! I was also happy to get some white artist tape and a little brush, as I have been too cheap to buy them separately. I am really happy about getting a premade Sketch Test Card for swatching all of the mediums! YAY!I have bought a few drawing kits, but this one was a notch above the others!

What a wonderful sketching set, I love it!This set has EVERYTHING for anyone that loves sketching, drawing or just doodling. A full range of quality graphite pencils, pastel shading pencils and black and white charcoal pencils, for starters. Add in a nice variety of soft pastel and charcoal sticks, and you have all of the drawing medium you could ask for. But, they don't stop there, they also toss in blending stubs, a blending cloth, a dust brush and a sanding stick, for finely shaping the ends of your pencils, to get just the right tip. There's also 3 drawing pads of different types, for use in your sketching projects! All packed into a really nice, zippered case.As someone that has been learning to draw with graphite and charcoal in the last year or two, this set has all of the pencils I've been wanting, but just hadn't purchased yet, along with the proper erasers and stubs, so that when I watch the tutorials online, I can now actually follow along with what the instructors are saying to do, and I'm not lacking any of the materials! I'm so looking forward to hours of sketching with this kit! I love it!

It is all here for a budding artist. It’s a fairly compact set, the paper included is small, for instance. But it’s all eminently useful.A kneadable eraser, a REAL chamois, white charcoal pencils, a charcoal stick holder, pastel pencils (very nice colors!), charcoal sticks (the style of charcoal sticks aren’t my favorite, but as with any art set, begin with what’s included and keep building your tool kit.) Pencils, oil pastels, sharpeners, tape, many things I’m not listing, and even instructions!I took a picture of the practice pages. They provide a finished worked picture and beside it, an outline of the drawing to build upon. So clever! This will give confidence in learning how to see details.This would be an utterly fantastic gift for a young artist. Even for a birthday gift for a child’s classmate. A coworker. Anybody! The small size, the portable zip pouch, the cute pad. Buying these things individually at an art store would add up to over $100 easily. At $29.99 it’s a great value.
