RING CAMERA WORKS THROUGH GLASS, DAY AND NIGHT
OUTSIDE BATTERY CAM (gen 3) NOW WORKS THROUGH GLASS WINDOWS :-) Having spent many hours researching, I discovered that the Ring outside battery camera goes into LOW POWER MODE when using a battery! This prevents the camera working through glass!!!! I couldn’t understand why my cheaper Ring indoor camera (no battery) DID work through glass (infra red turned off) but then I discovered that the outside camera needed mains power to prevent low power mode. I tried to buy official Ring power cable for outside camera (gen 3) but it was always out of stock in white. So I resorted to looking at alternatives on Amazon. This cable is a battery charger, that the camera thinks is a solar powered connection. (See photo showing sun with charging symbol) That is why the App believes it is not connected directly to power from a socket. Even though the app says power is not connected (it means it is not charging device from mains) IT IS ACTUALLY CHARGING THE BATTERY! Check the battery charge by going to App and look up device and then “DEVICE HEALTH” - this showed my battery had significantly increased from 20% after just over an hour. This great cable has made my Ring subscription worthwhile - I can now use Ring cameras through glass, it even works well at night!

Great for the price.
Works well for what is intended. NOTE. Due to ring pushing their own AC adaptors at a lot more money (and rarely available these days), the stick up cam recognises this as a solar charger. So you can’t use some settings (24/7 video recording for example - on premium subscription). But it keeps it fully charged regardless of weather etc using the more intense battery drain options (frequent motion detection and snap shot recording). The wire is quite thin and flattened so you can shut a UPVC window over it happily enough. Couldn’t do that with the ring ac cord. Makes life easier without the battery changes. Bought two of them now.

Does its job.
It works in respect of the two features I bought it for. 1. The plug easily fits the Ring Spotlight Camera and charges the batteries. 2. The flat cabling meant is incredibly easy to run it through our window frame and still close the window. 3. Additionally, the rate of charge when charging two batteries is adequate (quicker than I'd thought it would be considering I'd been used to the near-useless solar panel I've been using for the past four years. 4. I can't speak about reliability and customer service because I havevhad the product for only one day.

Works great on a ring stick up battery cam gen 3
This works great. My camera is in a high activity area and this has charged the battery from 86% to 100% in about an hour. Its says a solar device has been added when you go into the settings in the ring app. As others have mentioned the cable is flat so it can be put out through a window and you can still close it if you're careful. Highly recommend this product.

I had to remove device and add again to make power cable work
I had read some reviews saying that the cable does not work, but I was fed up changing the battery all the time, so bought the cable. Before I drilled any holes and run the cable I brought the Cam into the kitchen to test it and sure enough I could not get it to work on the App. It didn't make any sense because with no battery in, when I plugged in the cable, I got a blue power light on the Cam. I then removed the device and set it back up and bingo the app now controls the Cam although when I tap the Power icon on the screen it states "Cam stopped receiving power" I dont know why that message is there because it is definitely working. Hope this helps.

Broke after 10 days
Worked ok for about 10 days. Then charger stopped. It was a difficult installation as i had to put a socket in yhe garage to feed power. Hsve had to buy s new charging unit for it. Disappointed.
