They work like syringes work…you can suck up a liquid and transfer/deposit elsewhere. My thumb is green, should have used one of my perfectly functional syringes??

functional price is right
I used these to inject BT into squash plants. fine for that. not really high end but price is right. after about 6 injects it got stiff to use. first 3 were fine. For animals you want a better unit.
