Great soap making kit
If you are looking for a gift that balances "magical unicorn vibes" with genuine educational value, the Dan&Darci Unicorn Soap Making Kit is a standout choice. It transitions perfectly from a Christmas morning "wow" gift to a productive afternoon activity that keeps kids engaged for hours. Unlike some craft kits that feel flimsy or overly simplistic, this kit provides a mini-laboratory experience. Kids get to play chemist by melting down soap base, experimenting with scents, and layering colors. It is easy to use and the instructions are exceptionally clear and illustrated. While the kit is rated for ages 6+, younger children (6-8) will definitely need adult supervision for the microwave/melting phase, as the soap base gets quite hot. The molds are high-quality and produce crisp, recognizable shapes (unicorns and stars). The finished soaps look professional enough that kids actually feel proud to give them away as gifts. With multiple liquid colors and glitters included, no two soaps have to look the same. What makes Dan&Darci kits unique is their focus on science. The kit includes a learning guide that explains the chemistry of soap-making. It’s a subtle yet great way to teach.

Great girls gift!
This was awesome and easy! My daughter loved using this. There is enough ingredients to make about 5-6 molds. I didn’t have to babysit the process step by step, just heating up the cubes to melt. But this was good quality and a fun and easy experiment for my kids to do.

Kids loved it.
My girls loved this kit. Kept them busy for extended periods of time and the little mess it made wasn’t a big deal because it was soap and smelled good. Ages 8 and 11 were able to use unassisted.

Fun and functional!
This was really fun to do with my kids! It made great soap and had a variety of shape designs to choose from from. They don’t argue so much when it comes to washing their hands, and I love that it functions as a ‘toy’ and a staple of cleanliness. 😂 it did take a little more of the soap bars to fill the entire container for each one we made, which in turn makes less soap than advertised but I would still buy it again for the experience (and again… effortless clean kid hands)!

This Unicorn Soap Kit is Magical Fun for Kids!
This Unicorn Soap Making Kit is like, the coolest thing ever for any kid who loves unicorns and getting crafty. It's like science and playtime all rolled into one! Here's the scoop on what I loved: It's totally fun: You get to mix colors, add scents, and pour the soap into molds shaped like unicorns, rainbows, and even unicorn horns! How cool is that? It's educational too: While you're having a blast making your own soap, you're also learning about things like melting, pouring, and mixing colors. Sneaky science lesson, win! It's safe for kiddos: All the ingredients are totally safe for kids to use, so you don't have to worry. Just remember, grown-ups should be around when it's time to melt the soap base because it gets hot. A couple of things to keep in mind: You'll need a grown-up to help out when it's time to melt the soap, since it gets hot. The kit only has enough stuff to make soap one time, so if you want to keep the fun going, you'll need to buy more supplies. Overall, this Unicorn Soap Making Kit is a fantastic gift for any unicorn-obsessed kid. It's a blast to use, it teaches them a little something, and the end result is super cute and fun to use! P.S. I saw this kit priced between $19.99 and $28.49, depending on where you get it. There are also some kits out there that come with extra soap base or different scents, so you can pick the one that's perfect for you!

Patience is required.
If you have patience and love spending time with your kids for crafts, this is for you. The set has different shapes, colors, and scents for everyone to be as creative as they’d like. The hardest part about this craft is how fast the soap hardens once you make it into a liquid through the microwave. Once they add the colors and scents and mix them together, the soap liquid hardens in about 6-8 seconds. This then forces you to reheat again. Pouring the liquid in the container to pour in the mold also hardens the soap. When this happens, I just keep scraping the hardened soap into the microwaveable bowl/cup to rinse (reheat) and repeat. To clean the microwaveable dishes, put water in it and microwave for 2 minutes. This will just melt all the soap for easier cleaning. Otherwise you’re going to be scraping hardened soap. Enjoy.

This was such a big hit with my girls (7&9). Brought it on holiday for a rainy day and it was super fun. Lots of work for the parent though and messy. You have to have the energy and patience for it. Every layer has to dry for 45 mins or so before you can add the next colour. I’d suggest leaving the rainbow for last as it’s tricker. The spout is smaller and you have to move the mold around to get the soap everywhere, it’s quite tricky and we didn’t manage more than two layers for that one. The unicorn is fantastic and easier to pour into. Great activity. Would be good to be able to buy more soap as we have dye and scents left over but are out of soap.

Pros: once completed this made bath time so much fun! got kids away from screens and allowed for some creativity and allowed the children to work together to mold and play with the hands. cons: messy. definitely need to set aside some space, and I would suggest putting down a garbage bag to catch any extra soap or if you have a large bathroom counter may doing the activity in the bathroom so you aren't having to clean up afterwards. it is created for younger kids (we did it for 6 and 7) they enjoyed it, the 7 year old did get a little bored.

We bought this in October 2023 for our daughter, who was in grade 2 at the time and has been homeschooled since kindergarten. Now she’s in grade 4, and we’ve had this kit for a little over 2 years. The Dan&Darci Unicorn Soap Making Kit has been a fun and creative project that fits perfectly into homeschool activities. She liked that the kit came with everything needed to make soap—no extra supplies required—which made it easy to set up and get started. The unicorn theme was colorful and engaging, and she enjoyed mixing, pouring, and watching the soaps take shape. It’s been a great way to combine science and art, teaching her about measurements, mixing, and the process of making something useful while also expressing creativity. We’re giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because while it worked well, the soaps weren’t as long-lasting or sturdy as we hoped. The soaps tended to break into pieces after just one use, which was disappointing. That said, the molds themselves are still useful, and we continue to use them for other creative projects. We tried a few other DIY kits before, but this one stood out for being complete, easy to use, and enjoyable. 4 stars overall—fun, educational, and creative, though the soaps could be sturdier. Highly recommend for families looking for engaging homeschool craft projects that combine science and creativity. — Reviewed by Hibiscus, homeschooling mom rooted in presence Simple, honest, presence-based reviews.
