Amazing for kids
I bought this for my little brother, and he adores it. It walks you through how to play the game, while not being too complicated in the process. It’s honestly the perfect gift for a child. It’s good value for what you pay, it comes with two mini decks and some other useful items like damage counters and a coin. It isn’t a good present for people who already know how to play the game however, unless they’re interested in specifically collecting these cards. They arrived in perfect condition too, no damages to be seen.

Amazing game!
Absolutely amazing if you have kids, my boy is 5 and followed it with ease. It’s set up really well for beginners and I had a lot of fun as an adult playing this too. Brilliant entry point to the game.

A cheap and easy introduction to the world of Pokémon TCG
My 6 year old daughter just started showing an interest in Pokémon cards, probably because a few of her friends at school have them. The full game looked a bit complicated so I bought this as a simplified version for us both to learn the basics. It is super easy to play and really good fun (although we currently stand at her winning 12 games, and me 1 so I’m not impressed 😂). I think we will progress to the Pokémon Battle Academy version quite quickly, and then start buying extra cards etc and transition into the ‘full game’ but this is so simple and compact that it is something we will keep to take on holidays for a fun distraction.

Fantastic complete beginner set....
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this My First Battle set for my nine year old daughter. She loves Pokemon and has tried to play a normal full size deck (60 cards) with her dad but it's a bit too much for her (too complicated and too long winded). This set however is the perfect simple introduction to the game and she really enjoys playing it.In the box you get everything you need to play a two player game, which is:Two playmatsA sheet of damage tokensA rulebook1 coin6 prize tokens2 mini decksThe rulebook is nicely set out and fully explanatory for a complete beginner. Right through from setting up your playmat/game, what you can do on your turn, evolving your pokemon, and playing trainer cards etc.The decks consist of just seventeen cards each as opposed to the usual sixty cards of a full size deck. Each deck is built with 11 character cards, 4 energy cards and 2 trainer cards. The pokemon are basic and level 1 only, making it ideal for beginners. The game itself is like a simplified, half size version of a regular game with a player only able to have 3 basic pokemon on their bench at any time and only needing 3 prize tokens to win instead of the usual 6. The playmats are laminated too which I like. They don't fold flat when you first take them out of the box but if you just fold them back on themselves they soon flatten out.All in all I think this is a fantastic little starter set for young fans to get a taste of playing an actual game without feeling overwhelmed by super powerful Pokemon and special moves. Being much simpler and shorter also means my daughter, who has autism and adhd and who struggles with her attention span, can actually enjoy and complete a game without losing focus midway through. It's a super little set.

Fantastic Product!!
Like most millennial dads I was obsessed with Pokémon as a kid. My two boys recently had their 5th and 7th birthday so I was keen to get them into Pokémon. I originally got them both a standard TCG battle desk but the rules were too complicated for them.I then found this product and it was a great success! So much easier for them to understand. Now that they understand this game when they are a bit older we can move over to the standard game.

Good game but not good selection of cards
I don’t get why most of the cards are the same. Each pack has about 4 cards as there are 2 pikachu, 2, actually 3 bulbasaurs, and the others are mostly doubles..would rather more energy and action cards
