As I try to pull his toothbrush away, he leans forward to keep licking it.
We have a 6 1/2-year-old Labradoodle. I have brushed his teeth before bed every night since he was a puppy. I have ordered different dog toothpastes over the years. After squeezing a small layer of toothpaste on top of his toothbrush, I tap my left thigh, and he'll come sit right beside my knee. He tolerates me lifting the side of his lip so that I can slide his Oral-B toothbrush along his teeth as best I can. When I try to brush his back molars once in a while; he still balks and "gags." I can only brush his front and bottom teeth if I briefly clasp his open bottom jaw with my fingers and quicky do a "scrub" along and behind those teeth. What helps a lot is that he is anxious to taste this Vet's Preferred Advanced Enzymatic Toothpaste. I think he likes the supposed peanut butter flavor. I'll stop brushing so he can periodically lick the paste around his mouth. He also enjoys licking the toothbrush so much that he slides down to lay on my feet as I hold the toothbrush for him. I'll turn it on each side so he can lick all around it. Many times, he's so into it that as I try to pull the toothbrush away, he leans forward to keep licking it.If you research the ingredients in this enzymatic toothpaste, they appear to be perfectly safe. I just wish the 3 oz. tube was a little bigger. I recommend this product for dogs.

The only toothpaste my dog likes.
The media could not be loaded. My dog has always had terrible teeth. SInce we started using this toothpaste his vets have said that his teeth don't have as much tarter. The texture is a bit oily but I make sure to shake it and at the end of the bottle I do have to cut it open to get the last bits of it out. Lasts about 3 months with daily brushing for a medium dog.

My dog tolerates it very well!
My dog MiMi is diabetic so I need oral hygiene items that can be tolerated by her body…and this one ‘fits the bill’. It does not smell like peanut butter BUT dogs have a much keener sense of smell so she’s getting the underlying scent that she associates with PB so that’s important (she can’t have PB due to its high fat content). Because of her diabetes, one major concern is dental diseases so I know I must brush them. She hates having her teeth brushed w/a toothbrush so I use a wash cloth and squeeze this tooth paste on one and rub her teeth firmly. MiMi sits through this quite well (note, I only brush her teeth every 2 to 3 days) and when it’s over, she gets lots of “you’re such a good girl”❣️ Bonus I have this on subscription so it’s easier than going to a pet store plus it less expensive.

The only toothpaste my dog tolerates.
Of the three types we have tried, this is the only one my dog will tolerate. We notice she fights a lot less than before with other mint-flavored toothpastes. We consider that a win, as we actually can brush her teeth now. This was our second tube and we will continue to use it.

Picky dogs will hate it
On a journey to find toothpaste my picky dog won’t reject. This one this pretty expensive and has good reviews so I tried it. She hates it just as much as the inexpensive varieties. If you have a picky dog, this isn’t going to work for you. Just buy the less expensive variety.
