Disclaimer: I am picky and I know a lot about tabletop design and entertaining* BOTTOMLINE most coasters simply collect condensation. The difference here is that these wool coasters absorb it -- and dry quickly. They've solved every need I have ever had for a coaster.* MARBLE, on the other hand, leaves a slick flat puddle, not unlike outdoor tiles that give ice-skating-rink vibes. Tip: Don't buy a marble coaster -- or any other ceramic, stone option. They're all pointless.* CORK - isn't that bad. It's actually decent but it's too rustic-fugly for me. And the cork doesn't absorb all of the moisture. Tip: Don't buy cork. Its upside is not high enough to justify its pitfalls.* RUBBER (like a mouse pad) - is similar to cork but still they do get damp, leaving a ring of h2o on the bottom of the glass. Tip: Don't buy rubber, but accept them as a gift. That's something I wouldn't say about cork or marble. Personally, I'd politely pass or donate immediately.* PAPER AND FABRIC - are perfectly acceptable, but both eventually become too wet. Still I'll take them over marble or any ceramic material. Tip: Definitely buy paper cocktail napkins -- especially if the price is right and you need something or you're expecting a lot of guests. Fabric cocktail napkins are beautiful but they are fussy and they're yet another thing to launder, fold and store. Chances are you won't <<need>> them -- unless you host a cocktail hour at least twice a month.* DESIGN - I chose the multi-colored rounds. They're nice. I'm happy with them, but they're not my colors. Tip: For people whose style is more subdued than mine, go for that white/ivory color. In the photo at least they look just as thirsty as mine. I'd personally prefer if they were round, but if I wanted that understated coastal look, those square sand-colored square coasters would be be my pick.* WOOL - "Wool?" you ask. "Why are you positive they are wool?:" Personally I don't care either way, as long as they are absorbent, but I never truly believed they'd be wool until I opened the package and my man cat literally swiped them out of my hands - before hauling ass down the hallway. You see my man cat is a real stickler about textiles. It's wool or bust for him. That's how I know these coasters really are wool -- and likely merino as that's his ultimate favorite. :D

I love these coasters. Since they are made of natural, sustainable wool, they can absorb a lot of condensation without leaking through, and are also good for shielding surfaces from hot beverages or small plates. Some are more uneven than others, but this is fine for almost any cup except perhaps delicate footed wine or champagne glasses. I like the square shape. Somehow it looks more sophisticated than the round ones to my eye. The colors are a nice modern mix of light to dark greys, some cool toned and some warm, so they are pretty versatile as far as coordinating with decor. The best part - when you pick up your glass, the coaster stays on the table instead of coming along for the ride.

Don’t buy if you have cats or dogs. They worked together and these came apart very quickly. The cat knocked it off the counter, the dog did the rest. But if you have no pets then these are super cute and I would definitely get them.

Love these! I ordered a light color not thinking about drips from drinks, but they wipe off pretty well. I really like them. The quality seems great.

I get so many compliments on these coasters. Worth the investment- they are thick, a good value for my money- durable and an explosion of colors.
