Fantastic kit
I was so thrilled to find this kit! I broke a small dish from a very precious tea set that was given to me by my grandmother. I have kept the pieces wishing somehow that I could repair it. One day I was listening to a podcast that was describing the Japanese art of Kintsugi and discussed beautifully the metaphors of life that were held in the incredible art form. I knew immediately how I would repair my precious dish. This set appears to have everything needed for the project. While I have not yet attempted to use this kit I am very pleased with the quality of materials provided for the cost of the kit. I will take another reviewers advice and practice on a lesser valuable piece of pottery before repairing my dish. Very excited to try it!

Honor in upcycling
I was inspired to do kintsukuroi from watching the character Nobusuke Tagomi in The Man in the High Castle do so, in one of the alternate timeline episodes. It seemed like a wonderful way to resuscitate beloved objects that broke...even if they needed to be used in another way. Some of the items I'm fixing with this kit are things like ceramic mugs. I'm so sad they broke...but I'm happy there's a way to at least put Humpty Dumpty back together again...even if I can't drink out of them....I can use them for little succulent pots and they have mesmerizing gold lines running through them now. It seems like a great kit, though I don't know anything to compare it to.

Not for Beginners, Difficult to Use
I love the concept of Kintsugi and the idea of making broken things beautiful again with gold.So I am sad that this particular kit didn't work so well. First, it didn't come with a sample piece of pottery to try. Since I didn't have anything broken at the time, I had to wait. I wasn't going to purposely break something. The kit does come with two different pots of gold powder, 2-part epoxy resin, a mixing container, gloves, stir sticks, and a paintbrush.I was able to get a small piece of pottery to break and try. Ironically, it's this company's claim that it has a 30-minute working time that was part of the problem. Ideally, you want some working time, but not a lot. This piece was broken into 6 pieces, four of them were small. Fixing the two larger pieces worked well. However, I had difficulties getting the smaller pieces together. The other problem was the size of the gloves. They were so big that it was hard to grip the smaller pieces and apply the resin. But there just wasn't enough sticky factor to make those smaller pieces bond enough to let go. I finally just started slathering it on in hopes it would bond & cure sort of smoothly. The working time is not actually 30 minutes though. It started getting stringy and even more difficult to work with at around 20 minutes. With the resin applicator, the directions said to twist the top off, but you actually just pull it off. The resin started leaking out immediately.Part of my repaired bowl looks really pretty, but the rest of it is a mess.

Beautiful Kintsukurio Gold repair kit
I've been wanting a few repair kits like this to repair my beloved tea rose cat cookie jar my belated mother had given me it had been cracked years ago when my children were still small. I had seen on a world crafting video of how in different countries use metals to repair there cracked and broken dishes and I became obsessed with the want of the knowledge of how to and what to use to repair the older dishes my mother had given me when I had 1st started out on my own after I had my own place to live and all. I followed the directions on the box and mixed the ingredients and now my tea rose cookie jar is perfectly repaired looking imperfectly gilded with gold instead of seeing the ugly crack as it was it's like a golden glittering lightning struck it leaving in its place an adorned golden streak for all to admire hopefully for many years to come. The kit is well worth buying again to fix more cracked stoneware so it can be passed on to my next generation.

Works well
This kit contains everything you need to fix broken pottery, ceramics, glass, etc. You mix the gold powder with resin, then use it to glue the broken pieces of your item back together. The gold remains visible, making a beautiful design where the cracks and breaks were. There is a learning curve, so practice before mending heirlooms. I discovered that I didn't need near as much resin as I mixed up, it's very thick and was easier to apply with toothpicks than the brush supplied, and have an idea of how you're going to support your piece while it cures BEFORE you get started. The gold seams along the breaks had a domed appearance when cured, I don't know if that is as it should be, or a result of using too much resin. Clean up any drips or smears with rubbing alcohol before the resin hardens, afterwards it's almost impossible. Overall, this was fun, I'll do it again, and the price is economical.
