Sax True Flow Underglaze, Jet Black, 1 Pint - 411144

Love love love! Plenty opaque at 3 layers. Use for my pieces where I use stenciling. Sometimes it’ll seep under the edges of the vinyl, my fault for having bisque with some texture. But Underglaze scrapes off very well. I use the cricket weeding tool, but any safety pins or needles work! And I get really clean lines. :) Super happy with it.

I know this is supposed to be a student - grade underglaze, however, I actually prefer it to the more expensive brands. I have found some of the other brands do not take glazes well and remain matte or satin instead of the gloss finish I had applied. (This has only happened with the black.) When using Sax brand it comes out great every time! I would absolutely recommend it. It is a low fire product, however, it fires beautifully to cone 6 without burning out or dulling. It's a great money saver with great results.

I like the Sax glazes. They seem to produce the same results but at a lower cost.

Goes on smooth through all layers. Coats beautifully. Nice consistent opaque coverage. No glaze crawl over the underglaze as I seen on other underglazes. HOWEVER, I carved away a design, then did a clear glaze over it, and the color bled under the glaze. As long as you have the underglaze all over, it works great, but if you want crisp lines under clear glaze, not so much.

Great underglaze works perfectly on my clay and in my electric kiln!

Got this underglaze because I love the Jet black from the sample box, but this is much thinner and will run which does not work well with my stencils. Currently trying to dry it out to thicken the underglazes up.

The bottle was open, spilled inside the package, half of the bottle was empty
