So far, I am impressed with the Brother J1800DW Inkjet Printer.
I have owned and used this printer for a year now. I am impressed with its quality, speed, and functionality. I don't usually write reviews, but if they help you make a decision, I think you will be happy with this purchase. I have owned HP in the past, but I am glad I switched to Brother.

Great buy. Easy set up.
Easy to set up. After reviewing so many printers and reading about how many are hard to connect, I went with Brother because most reviews talked about how easy it was to set up. Reviews were correct! Glad I purchased.

Connection great. Print quality so so.
Easiest connection wireless printer. Able to connect. Noticed that the print quality is a bit skewed as it starts to fade in some lines when I print large documents. I wouldn’t recommended if printing large docs. Will see how long this will last.

Excellent Inexpensive Multifunction Inkjet Printer-Scanner-Copier
I bought this after a power failure toasted my HP OfficeJet Pro All-In-One.This printer had mixed reviews and I was hesitant to try it, however I felt that many of the poor reviews indicated to me that their reviews were because they didn't follow the instructions when setting up the printer. I followed the instructions and everything went well.I use Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android devices and the printer works flawlessly with all .I have no need for the FAX so I can't comment on that.I use the printer, both color and black and white, and with no problems at all. I haven't used the cut function, but may try it sometime if the need arises. I'm a pretty light user, mostly scanning manuals and documents to store on my NAS.I use the scan function using the ADF and the glass for both PDF and jpeg images. All work well.I like this printer and recommend it.

Don't even think about subscribing to an ink subscription plan!
I chose to not subscribe for any Brother ink replenishment plan. Here is why.1) I was unable to select the Refresh subscription plan of my choice (Occasional, 40 pages, $2.49) when following Brother's online instructions. My desired plan, which was recommended for my particular needs during the online recommendation process, differed from the one offered during the online selection process (Occasional, 25 pages, $1.99).2) Brother's Support Center (sales support) provided no useful help after my request for assistance, neither by phone nor email.3) In their email response, my desired 40 pages, $2.49 plan was listed as available for selection, but no definitive instructions on how to select it were provided by the author.4) My phone call was never returned.5) The entire subscribing process is a time consuming hassle. It entails learning how the plan works, the creation of an account, connecting the printer to a network, registration of the printer, payment by a credit card, and contending with conflicting written information. The printer itself deserves praise, however. Lack of an Ethernet jack is my only complaint after only four days of use.

Easiest printer I've ever hooked up!
I've been through a number of printers in my lifetime, and to say I adore this one would be an understatement. Our last printer, from a competing brand, was constantly disconnecting itself and reconnection was a complicated chore. Recently, it decided that it should only print documents in a very light cyan, despite the fact that I had just refilled all the colors, and print tests always came out looking normal. That was the point where I gave up and ordered a Brother.Imagine my surprised Pikachu face when this printer immediately accepted the wifi password, connected to my computer without actually needing any extra software, and then quickly and correctly spat out the document I had been trying for so long to print, all in under five minutes. I don't even necessarily care about all the extra bells and whistles, it works, plus continues to work, and that's more than I was initially hoping for.

Not their best work
I loved brother products until 2020. They were the most reliable printers I ever had. I'm now regretting buying another one.The Cons:(1) The ink cartridges are not reliable. The same brand (e.g. Brother) cartridges are not recognized.(2) When shook, I can hear ink still in the cartridge. However, my printer tells me there is no more.(3) The printer will stop printing if any of the ink cartridges are "detected" as empty. Even if I want to print black but a color cartridge is detected as empty.(4) The printer will stop printing if the ink cartridge is given an exclamation mark symbol "!". It says that the ink cartridge will not be able to print optimally because of low (e.g. not empty ink), therefore it refuses to try printing.(5) The printer's setting is set to always on. However, I have to wake up the printer every time I want to print. This is a hassle if I have to walk to the other side of the room. Additionally, after I wake it up, the print job will fail and I will have to walk back to my computer, reprint, and go back to the printer.(6) There is no direct connectivity by USB.(7) The ideal customer of this printer would be someone who would only need about 3-4 black ink cartridges total.(8) The ink cartridges are expensive. The alternative ink cartridges are also expensive. Therefore, it is better to buy the Brother brand ink cartridges so the manufacturer warranty can not blame the alternative ink brand. It costs about $40 for a 2-pack. By the time I buy another 2-pack, the cost would reach close to 1/2 the price of the printer. The cartridge does not even come close to printing 500 pages of black ink. From my experience, it is about 200 pages give or take a few more. Therefore, a refill will be needed too soon. The Lesson:I'm changing my purchase to tank printers. At least the only concern I'll have is if the printer malfunctions for other reasons.
