compressed charcoal sticks Drawing Class Essential Tools Kit

I am not skilled in drawing. I am taking a drawing class and know absolutely nothing about drawing or supplies. My assignment was to cover an entire page with charcoal and reduce it with shades and shadows. These charcoal seem a bit dry compared to other general charcoal I purchased. They almost seemed like they had an oil base. They streaked more than other general charcoals. I had purchased extra fine which was a lot softer than the soft. I got better coverage with the extra fine.

Wasn't sure which I needed for a tombstone rubbing, so I picked this muti-pack. Found the soft works better on rubbings and the hard for drawing.

if you do not know how hard or soft you need Perfect!! although the Break when Dropped!Small for my fat fingers and when doing rubbings on walls make sure to put padding underneath.
