Great timer!
I originally made a negative review because it had died on me and was not charging at all (no red light, nothing). For whatever reason, some chargers work and some don't, even though it is the same USB type C charger. Also, it takes a very long time to fully charge from red light to green light. Like 8 hours long. Regardless, this is my absolute favorite timer. I use it more often for myself as an individual with ADHD to support with time blindness and for my toddler to help understand the concept of passing time. I used visual timers when I was a teacher as well. I couldn't recommend them enough. A friend bought one recently for a roommate with ADHD and they loved it! Honestly, in the end it's a timer and anyone can benefit from it.

Good for kids
Very easy to use, kids can program it on their own and the red marks help them to control their working time. Nice tool!

Great for a preschooler
My 3 yo grandson is fully into the "No" stage. Explaining that "we can still do what we're doing, but when the red is gone and the timer goes off, we have to.." when he has a heads up that change is coming, he's so much more agreeable. I keep an eye on it too and give him a 5 minute and 1 minute warning too.

Worst thing I've bought on Amazon
I bought two of these timers, thinking that they would be great to help my son visually track his time with homework. Big problems included:1. Battery slots designated for AAA batteries are a good 1/4 inch too long. (See pics) The batteries are unable to make contact with the ends to conduct power to the device. I am guessing there was SUPPOSED to be a spring or something there, but there's nothing.2. Charging wire is worthless. Falls out of the timer with very little movement.Bottom line: Poorly built. Waste of money

Helps my son keep track of his reading time, as long as he remembers how to set it right
My 6-year-old is supposed to be reading independently every day and keeping track of the time he spends. He's only just learning to tell time, so figuring out how many minutes he'd read on his own using a clock was really a challenge for him. I was hoping this timer would be an easier way for him to keep track by himself.I would say our results are mixed. Whereas I used to field questions about "how many minutes was that?!" from across the house, now I get frustrated pleas for help because he can't remember how to set the timer to count up. I don't find it to be very intuitive, and obviously my 6-year-old doesn't either. I suppose we both just need more practice. It does function as intended if set properly. The countdown function works well for my son when he brushes his teeth, provided he can remember how to set it correctly. And it does help him keep track of his reading time, like I originally wanted...if only he could set it the right way the first time.Since this is marketed as a device for kids, I feel it should be really easy for kids to figure out without much instruction. It's not, in our experience. My son wants to love it, but he's always frustrated by it initially.Functionally, it works as intended. Both count up and count down features work as expected. But getting each mode started is a hope-for-the-best situation each time. Yes, it comes with an instruction manual. Yes, I've read it repeatedly. Do I remember what it says to do for next time? Never. And I'm a grownup. No wonder my 6-year-old is frustrated.

Good for helping kids learn to stay in schedule
My 7 year old is time blind. Has no urgency at all when it comes to showering, getting ready for school, eating meals etc. Thanks to this timer, he is able to set a timer on his own, and he pays attention to the time and makes it a goal to finish his tasks before the timer ends. He is not showering in 20 mins instead of 45+mins. Dinner in 30 mins instead of 1hr +. This timer has helped him and our family stay on schedule.
