Ricer worked perfect for the Thanksgiving potatoes. A lot less work made potatoes easy to mix.

I always hated making mashed potatoes because they were always a bit lumpy. No matter what I did or how I tried I could not get them to the perfect consistency that I wanted. I finally learned about the riser on master chef. I love this so much. I make mashed potatoes much more and they're the best I've ever made. I don't even use a mixer anymore. I put the potatoes through the ricer and then mash with a potato masher for a moment. I add my butter and milk and whip it with a spoon for a couple minutes and I'm perfectly satisfied.. The product works perfectly.

This is my first time using a ricer, I have always just used a potato smasher. It definitely produces a better texture for mashed potatoes. You can’t overload it or leave skins otherwise it’s hard to extrude through the holes. Also the plate gets stuck to the compactor plate and I have to pry it apart every time. Takes longer than the potato smasher but if your family doesn’t mind chunky mashed potatoes then maybe this is too much effort.

To bulky. The potatoes squish out around the top plunger and the handles are designed to cause pinch points.
