A Super Smooth reel! Highly Recommended!
I'm thrilled with its performance. From the moment I unboxed it, I could tell this was a quality piece of equipment, and it has certainly lived up to that first impression out on the water. The first thing that struck me is just how incredibly smooth this reel is. Casting is an absolute dream, with the line flowing effortlessly and consistently. The retrieve is equally impressive – silky smooth with no hitches or grinding, making it a pleasure to use all day long. This smoothness undoubtedly contributes to longer, more accurate casts. The reel easy to use. Even if you're newer to baitcasters, the braking system is intuitive and easy to adjust, significantly reducing backlashes and allowing for quick adaptation to different lure weights and wind conditions. The ergonomic design feels comfortable in hand, and all the controls are conveniently placed and operate crisply.I've been thoroughly impressed with the build quality and the overall fishing experience this reel provides. It handles fish confidently and has quickly become one of my go-to reels.I would definitely recommend this reel to anyone looking for a high-performing, smooth, and user-friendly option. It's a fantastic value for the money, and I would certainly buy it again!

Great reel at a great price
This reel is very smooth and built well. It will hold up to big redfish with no problem. The only complaint is the weight. I have the 3000 model and it weighs 13.8 oz. If you are using this reel for inshore fishing, I recommend getting their lighter models. I am going to use this reel for offshore snapper and bull red fishing so the weight does not matter for my application. For inshore bay fishing the reel should not weigh more then 6-7 oz. If everything goes well I will probably purchase some more for offshore fishing but go with the 5000 model for tarpon and large red snapper.

My new favorite saltwater reel -- Handled big striper with ease.
I’m glad I ordered the KastKing Kapstan saltwater fishing reel. Used it for the first time today and landed a feisty 10-pound striper. The reel handled the fight easily— the drag is smooth, and reeling in the fish felt effortless. I’ve ordered several products from KastKing and have always been impressed by their quality, and the Kapstan is no exception. It feels solid, casts far, and performs beautifully right out of the box. I'll be using it on many trips to come.

Great starter reel, should have given 3 stars but I still caught fish… so 4 stars then
This is a great starter reel, lots of line capacity, performs well, and salt water safe. I pulled a lot of whiting and sting rays with this reel. But a few negatives would be that this reel is heavy, like crazy heavy, so i would recommend this be used for dead bait fishing from shore or a pier. There are a few Allen key screws that’s attached to a metal plate that connects the handle to the reel. These screws will come loose and you will feel the handle give a little creating a very small amount of latency between your push and the reel starting, so expect to have to tighten that down every season. For size it is big and hefty, much similar to your entry level PENN battle reels. I still feel that this reel does out perform the Battle III series and for sure does better than the Wrath series but that’s not saying a whole lot. If you’re looking for a heavy reel that is salt water safe but can’t afford a DX or go JDM and need a high drag? Then this is a decent choice.I did not notice any wild sounds or clicks after the 8 months I used this reel for primarily surf fishing pared with a St Croix Triumph 10’ cause at time I was looking for a reel, I was looking for something to match with the green rod and wasn’t really looking at the stats.

Fixed!
Edit:Kastking tried to help solve my issues and suggested sending another one incase the one I got turned out to be defective. Happy to say the new one has been good so far, not sure what the deal was with the first one I got but overall pretty happy about the replacement. Thanks again.Sure its smooth out of the box but no really compared to the same price point of its competitors. For over 150 its feels like a scam. The quality is just not there with the very flimsy bait arm with crazy amount of flex to the subpar drag system. The line roller barely rolls and that is going to be a huge problem with braid. It does look cool but nothing screams buy me, just get a penn, shimano or daiwa

Solid Saltwater Performer at a Great Price - KastKing Kapstan SE First Impressions
I recently picked up the KastKing Kapstan SE saltwater spinning reel, and after a few trips, I'm genuinely impressed. As a budget-conscious angler who still demands reliability, this reel has delivered.First off, the build quality is surprisingly robust for the price. The reel feels solid in hand, and the IPX6 waterproof rating gives me confidence when fishing in rough conditions. The drag system is smooth and powerful, handling some decent-sized fish with ease. I haven't had any issues with slippage or inconsistencies, which is crucial when battling strong saltwater species. The Kapstan SE's retrieve is also smooth, and the line lay is even. I appreciate the attention to detail, especially considering the price point. It's clear that KastKing has put effort into designing a reel that can withstand the rigors of saltwater fishing.A couple of minor things to note: It's a bit on the heavier side, which might be a consideration for some anglers, especially during long fishing sessions. Also, while the finish looks durable, only time will tell how it holds up to prolonged exposure to saltwater.Overall, I'm very happy with the KastKing Kapstan SE. It's a solid performer that offers excellent value for the money. If you're looking for a reliable saltwater spinning reel without breaking the bank, this one is definitely worth considering.Pros:* Excellent value for the price* Robust build quality* Smooth and powerful drag system* IPX6 waterproof rating* Smooth retrieve and even line layCons:* Slightly heavier than some other reels* Long-term durability of finish is yet to be determinedHighly recommend for anglers looking for a budget friendly saltwater reel.
