Overall the product itself is somewhat effective for acne but sulfar has a very pungent smell. Your face will smell bad unless you wash properly with a scented cleanser. The reason for only giving 3 stars is because the product did not list expiry date. I purchased in December and by March 01 it was already expired. I wouldn't have purchased it if I knew the expiry date before.

If this is the answer for acne I'll likely never know. So.....full disclosure I've only used this a total of 4 times. I've read reviews that said it immediately cleared redness up in one use. Maybe they had some sort of miracle event but I've seen no improvement with the 4 times I've used it, not for acne not for redness. If anything it makes my skin more red temporarily. Now, I am totally aware that this product likely would need to be used on a regular basis for months to know whether or not it truly does anything. But people, this smells so bad, especially if you're like me and you have an acute sense of smell. The directions say to just rinse it off with water, but I've taken it a step further and wiped off the ointment with a paper towel and then washed my face a second time with cleanser. Not only does that still not get rid of the smell, but even the following day after washing my face again with cleanser I can still smell sulfer all day long. I even chose the sensitive skin formula because it's half the concentration so I figured it would be half the smell. I can't imagine what full concentration smells like. Now here's my theory and keep in mind I have absolutely no empirical data to back this up. I've only used it 4 times, I don't know anyone else who has ever used it, and I certainly haven't read any scientific studies about it. I firmly believe this might be the cure for acne and the world will never know because no one can tolerate the smell long enough to find out. I wish there was a choice to give something no stars with an explanation just because I can't really fairly give it a rating other than based on the smell. Although I will also say because it's an ointment it's very greasy. Which is ironic that something that's supposed to basically suck the oil out of your skin can be so greasy.

I don’t have cystic acne but I do have fungal acne and I was hoping to see some results by using this. After about 3 weeks I see no difference and my skin is extremely dry. DO NOT PUT IT ON THIN SKIN like your neck or around your eyes. There has been no change in my skin besides being so so dry, my skin feels so scaly and flakey and it burns to put on moisturizer. I have seen this work for others so it may just be my skin, but for me personally it did not work.

While the sulphur medication part of this product seems to be mildly effective, the white base it is in melts once it contacts warm skin, leaving a drippy, sticky mess. Would not recommend.
