If you are a hair trigger tempered jerk like me, you probably need to have one
Frankly, you can get by with a much lesser grease gun than this, and it would probably be tough to justify for anybody but a well equipped professional or a really hard core do-it-your-selfer. This thing was not cheap.....Having said that, anybody who has spent anytime under a car, truck, or RV trying to grease hard to find and access grease fittings knows the frustration of trying to keep the coupler from going crooked or popping off altogether from a difficult fitting, all while trying to pump the gun in a confined space. For me it usually results in grease leaking out everywhere and neighbors closing their windows to avoid the profanities. This gun changes all that. Some have called it a game changer, and they may not be wrong...After one particularly hot, sweaty, frustrating job where I ended up trashing 4 non-working-at-the-time, cheapy to not-so-cheapy conventional chinese grease guns and 2 air operated china guns I decided to break down and buy something decent. (I don't know...Is Mexican made automatically better?)I'm already married to the Dewalt 20v/60v stuff, so choosing a brand was pretty much a no brainer. So, in for a dime, in for a dollar.....I also bought and installed a LockNLube coupler right out of the box along with a LockNLube 90 degree coupler for use when necessary. (The LockNLube coupler simply clips firmly to the 90 adapter. Too Cool....) When using the straight coupler, if you can get the coupler on the fitting, it's not coming back off until you want it to. When using the 90, you may have to hold it in place, but that's a whole lot easier when you don't need 3 hands like you do with a pump gun. (The LockNLube is killer, and probably 50% of what makes this rig great. I personally wouldn't get one without the other.)I was always disappointed with both of my air operated, hand held grease guns. They worked well on most fittings, but it seemed like every job had at least one plugged fitting the air powered guns couldn't handle, resulting in having to go sift through my tub full of oil dripping, old conventional grease guns in hopes of finding one that works well enough to to bust through the dirt/dried grease. Not so with the Dewalt. I have yet to encounter a fitting it couldn't blast through. I read a review of someone who claimed the opposite, that their gun couldn't push grease through much of anything without the relief valve popping off. I'm pretty sure that had to be a defective unit. I have been a mechanic for about 45 years now, and this is easily the strongest gun I have ever used.Overall I can usually finish in a fraction of the time, without all the frustration. It's worth every damn penny to me.......

Worth paying for Dewalt quality
I wish I had bought this years ago. My tractor has a lot of grease fittings, this works great. So much easier than pumping the manual gun. The hose is just the right length. Even Zerk fittings that have dried grease, this gun has enough power to purge the dried grease. I recommend changing the coupler with one that has a lever to lock and release it. I first purchased a cheaper off-brand grease gun and returned it for a better quality (Dewalt). Dewalt has an over-pressure relief valve! If you have a clogged Zerk fitting the over-pressure relief protects your hands from a burst hose (an important safety issue). I wish it had a place to park the grease fitting when not in use.

Makes maintenance a breeze.
Can’t believe I waited so long to buy a battery powered grease gun. Works great for all my landscape equipment.

Honest Review
Well kind of sick of all the other cheaper $35 grease guns I've purchased that seems to break. So decided to purchase this one which seems to be the mother of all. The only thing I wish I had was the case for it, as I ordered the bare tool but figured it wasn't worth it since I have the batteries already. The bare tool comes in a box, with instructions, the gun, and the hose.Pros: Following the instructions it's pretty easy to use... I like how they describe the purge valve options, etc. The connector fits nice and tight from stock, and I really have to yank it off the fitting. There is no need to order another part for this. I was concerned because I thought you needed the lock on tool for the part from some of the other reviews. The full version comes with a 4ah battery, but was able to operate it with the batteries that came with my drill drivers which are smaller.Cons: The biggest con for me is the light as it only operates for 20 seconds and turns off. I was under the van I was greasing and the darn thing kept turning off on me as I was wiping off the grease. Whoever decided to make the light option really needs to spend some time in the dusk under the car. The light would be helpful if there wasn't an automatic shutoff on it IMHO as I can manually turn it off at the switch. As a result I had to wear a head mounted light to finish the job in the dusk. Very sad the light only stays on 20 seconds and it seems like 5 seconds under the car as you're grabbing paper towels and such. The bleeder valve is nice but here's the thing you lose a lot of grease if you are to properly bleed pressure out of the gun if you plan on storing it a while. It would be nice if DeWalt would design the gun so you can release the pressure another way without having to lose grease. Why would you want to relieve the pressure on a grease gun? Because you don't want the grease to desperate causing an oily mess all over your storage area + this chemically changes the grease you are using if you lose enough oil.Tips: Just a recommendation as it's not really in the manual or instructions... pop the bleeder valve a little before pulling the grease tube handle all the way back. May help re-leave some of the pressure as it's really hard if you don't. Also read the instructions they are helpful.

No more goopy greasy mess!
I love this grease gun.I hate hate HATE getting greasy and dirty.I installed a "LockNLube"coupler on the extra long hose and greasing my vehicles and farm equipment is a breeze. Takes me exactly 10 minutes to do two 4x4 trucks and two John Deere tractors. My hand pump grease gun would take me 30-45 minutes, my hand and forearm would cramp up, sometimes the darn thing would lose prime or leak out of the seems. This is a quality tool and if you dread doing routine maintenance of doing chassis lube, you should get this tool. It's a definitly a game changer.
