Wen Pocket Marking Edge Ruler (ME899R)

These are great rulers! I actually purchased this to use as a tool cutting guide for a few tools where thicker guides get in the way of the tool housing...this is almost perfect for that. The extrusion is sturdy and quite stiff and mine arrived perfectly with perfectly straight marking edges, perfectly flat surface, and overall just very well done. The hook is great also, but I removed that for my intended use. I did check the graduations against a Mitutoyo 6" scale and a Starrett 18" square blade and they were spot on. They are laser etched. Ends are cut nice and square. I compared this in person with the similar Woodpeckers rulers that these are clearly a copy of. Just about identical. The marking edges on the original red are quite thinner (approaching sharp, almost), which is an advantage. The edges on this Wen are approximately 1mm, which is still good and should minimize parallax. The etching on the red is a bit deeper as well. All in all, this Wen is a real winner, great quality, and a lot less expensive (and actually for my off-label use, it's better than the red one).

Outstanding product at a very good price. The ruler is straight and very accurate when cross-checked against my high dollar Jessem sqaures!

Solid, square, accurate and lightweight. Great little edge ruler that does what you need it to do. Kinda hard to mess this up though.

This is a great edge ruler, super precise and, as with all Wen tools, an excellent value. This is quite practical given the small size. Personally, I find it much easier to read than the red or blue rulers I have. Give it a try, it won't disappoint or break the bank.

Be careful of nicks from the manufacturing process. First one had a nick on the reference surface and wouldn't sit flat. The second one Amazon sent had a nick but was on the back side of the same location, so I kept it since it didn't impact the function of the tool in anyway. Aside from that, this thing has been great. I used it to layout dados and reveal lines on dozens of boards and it works great.

I love all my WEN measuring products, including this three-sided 12-inch aluminum triangular architect's ruler. I first heard about WEN measuring tools from Matt at 731 Woodworks. Even though it's designed for architects and draftsmen, I use it in my shop and really like it. The build is solid, made from aluminum, and it holds up well in a work environment. It has a good weight to it and doesn’t slide around while I'm marking. The laser-etched scales are easy to read and accurate, making it simple to measure small fractions of an inch. I especially like how the three sides are color-coated so I can quickly find the scale I need without flipping it around a bunch. It includes a wide range of scales, as stated in the description, and is flexible enough for almost any measuring or layout task. When I am finished, it stores easily in a drawer or tool bag without taking up much space. If you are in the shop, working on fine woodworking, or just want a reliable straight edge with clear markings, this is a great pick. Practical, accurate, and built to last.

Nice little edge ruler. Well built, accurate and durable. I would definitely buy again.
