Definitely a good and cheaper alternative to the nvidia shield tv. All apps downloaded as expected and works smoothly with no glitches. I highly recommend. (I bought the 240UK). My second purchase was the 270UK with a 3GB ram. The 240UK is 2GB ram, so the 270UK is much smoother, faster and less laggy, for the price difference, if you want better quality and fast results, (dare I say its 1:1 with the Nvidia shield tv) go for the 270UK

A brilliant streaming box- it's very easy to set up and downloading apps is simple to do! It runs very smoothly. I think is just as good as a firestick!

This is a good tv box that supports a wide range of apps, however it doesn't support Tennis TV, which was primarily the reason that I bought it. If this is no issue to you, then it comes highly recommended. It has a decent storage capacity, with plenty of space for multiple apps. It was easy to setup, you just need to login to the play store. It only lost a start due to the lack of Tennis TV support.

Looks good, easy to set up , , connected up straight away to the wifi, can also be eternet connected. All apps are available for this as well. You are not limited to what Amazon want you to download only. Compared to a Firestick , this thing is like lightning speed. The remote actually feels like its got a bit of quality about it and did not fall out of a christmas cracker like the fire stick one. Shows what can be done when Amazon Prime are not trying to take over your life and the things you own.

I read a lot of reviews prior to purchase and thought this may be a good alternative to the major brand in this field who appear to simply want your data. The device was easy to set up and interface is nice: however, within a week I ran into sound issues on Netflix. I then ran into frame rate issues on other platforms - the device cannot work out what frame rates to apply on certain apps so you have to manually change these and then swap back when viewing different content or using other apps. This is NOT a good alternate to the market leader in this field. Also you cannot download BBC iPlayer etc as they are not available in the store for this device.

Easy to set up, good picture on the TV. Neat little box.You need your own HDMI cable. Delivered by Royal Mail Parcel Force, came a day late but with lots of communication from them.

This really is a good product but it doesn't support BBC iplayer which can be sideloaded but the itvx app cannot be sideloaded. I have contacted thompson and they have no plans to upgrade the device.

I love it. The backlit remote control is beautiful, and the box looks nice and boots up fast. I paired it with my old TV's power and volume control, so now I can power on/off my TV and adjust the volume using the Thomson remote control. I feel it should have more than 2GB of RAM though, but all apps worked fine, so I guess it's enough. The interface is fast and responsive, and I didn't notice any lag. Definitely worth the money. Streams are smooth, WIFI connection doesn't drop, settings are easy to navigate. The box supports casting out of the box. I was able to cast my Samsung phone to my TV using Samsung's smart view without downloading any app either on the Thomson box or on my phone. The remote feels good to hold and its button are nice to the touch. Also, the picture quality is oustanding. My TV's screen, although it's a 1080p screen, now looks like a brand new 4k TV, relatively. The picture quality is so much better now that it's connected to this TV box, compared to the quality I was getting from my satellite decoder and laptop HDMI. It truly feels like I have a brand new TV. Apps install within seconds, and Google assistant works perfectly. It's even more accurate than my phone's. And the box receives updates. I had a July 2025 update waiting for me to download and install when I connected it to WIFI. I really have nothing negative to say about this device. It works and it works perfectly. And this isn't a paid review. I'm a Nigerian living in Nigeria, so I wouldn't even be considered for such a thing. Get it--you won't regret it.

Bonjour ! je suis un amateur du multimédia et en général je commande des fire stick TV d'Amazon que je branche derrière mon écran plat. J'ai actuellement vidéo projecteur qui était raccordé à une petite box Android qui datait de quelques années celle-ci est tombée en panne,donc j'ai acheté cette box Thomson. Dans un premier temps je l'ai choisi car elle a le port SPDIF(un petit peu capricieux 😐 ça fait quelques mois que je m'en sers,il n'est pas défectueux, mais il y a du jeu dans la prise ce qui fait que le son ne passe pas si le câble n'est pas bien calé(j'ai un vieil ampli qui ne passe le son que par cette prise optique). Ensuite esthétiquement elle est jolie et se fond bien dans mon meuble de salon. Ce qui est aussi appréciable c'est sa consommation ce vraiment pas du tout énergivore. C'est une Android box donc j'ai déjà fait des mises à jour c'est véloce,ça fonctionne bien. J'en fais une utilisation principalement pour le multimédia et essentiellement pour regarder des films sur les plateformes de streaming. J'ai pu constater qu'au départ cette box ne me décodait pas l'eAC3(DD+) et par conséquent je passais en PCM 48. ALORS EST-CE QUE C'ÉTAIT LE PORT SPDIF QUI NE ME PASSAIT PAS L'INFO À L'AMPLI? Cependant,ça fait un mois que je profite à nouveau du décodage du Dolby digital AC3 et d'ailleurs tous les formats audio comme le DTS. Sinon au niveau qualité l'image, la 4K est au rendez-vous, ça me donne une très belle image sur mon vidéoprojecteur 1080p. La connexion Wi-Fi est parfaite, je n'ai pas testé le port Ethernet étant donné que le Wi-Fi est assez puissant. La box ne chauffe pas trop. Le démarrage est assez rapide. Il y a même un mode veille. J'ai eu l'occasion de la brancher sur une barre de son de chez Yamaha en HDMI afin de pouvoir profiter du son Dolby Atmos et ça fonctionne très bien. Je suis très satisfait de cette box Android que je recommande car elle a un bon rapport qualité prix.

I had the Xiaomi MiBox S Gen 1, so I decided to upgrade to Xiaomi MiBox S Gen3, but the device was a total let down. Remote control is unresponsive, you need to click multiple times, the bluetooth headset is pairing but unable to play any sound, colors were awful, performance was very slow. I returned the device and got the Thomson 240UK, the difference is huge! This is what a streaming box should be. Remote control is very responsive and premium, performance is amazing, working great out of the box, HDMI quality is amazing, you have more ports and you have the Audio Optical port to connect your sound bar directly. I am extremely happy with Thomson and very disappointed with Xiaomi.

Thomson 240: So far I'm very happy with my TV box. The installation was painless. Works great with my Philips Ambilight 58" (2021) TV. The remote control has a lovely weight to it and to my positive surprise the buttons are backlit. The remote control is also "multi-device" so I've put away my Philips control and run everything with the Thomson remote. One less problem! Very good.

Je l'ai acheté parce que ma Smart TV Samsung il était impossible d'installer Orange TV. Donc j'ai acheté ce box TV qui fonctionne parfaitement avec Orange TV et il fonctionne comme un décodeur. Je change les chaînes avec le pavé numérique ou recherche canal. Je regarde également auvio RTL plus Amazon Prime YouTube etc.. Je me sers même plus de ma Smart TV car avec ce box j'ai tout ce qu'il faut et il fonctionne très bien je suis content de mon achat. Attention avec TV Orange il faut au moins un décodeur de chez Orange car on a besoin du code du décodeur et on peut installer 5 appareils. J'habite en Belgique et je le recommande. PS: avec un décodeur Orange supplémentaire il faut un fil coaxial et payer 9 € par mois. Ici j'ai investi 43 €, mais je ne paye pas d'abonnement pour le deuxième décodeur et je fonctionne avec le wifi.
