Source SQC – Quick Connection Kit Cycling, Black

Great connector. Shame it's so overpriced

Not a Long review. I lost the pipe for my Source bladder so needed a new connector and this is it. The only very slight whinge is that it is a shame I could not buy the too halves separately as I have no use for one half of this pair of connectors.

If like me you use water bladders and use the options for quick disconnect, which is essential when using the Source UTA adapter (amazing product, go get one if you don't have one yet, perhaps see my review on that product).. then this is the perfect quick connect to use. It is compatible with other brands connectors like camelback and platypus and also the generic ones if you buy direct from CPC (who make the ones platypus use). However it is much more streamline and robust than the others, in my opinion, making it a better fit for this use. The generic ones seem to be designed for a more "at home" use than the Source ones, having parts that are exposed a bit more, so able to snag on things and perhaps break off (in my opinion). This one is also black, which is obviously always an advantage (to quote BatMan "Does it come in Black?"). This is a "stop" connector so when the spigot (small bit) is released from the main body there is a spring loaded valve which stops any flow of water. This is important so you don't lose your water when changing anything over. In short I think these are the best on the market for this use and worth a little extra if they cost more. J'ai acheté cet article afin de pouvoir fixer les accessoires de la poche à eau source ultimate hydratation système à mon tube équipé d'un filtre Sawyer. Je n'utilise que la partie femelle de l'adaptateur. Il n'y a qu'un adaptateur dans le colis.

Make any (foodgrade) hose a source QC compatible hose. Any lenght is possible. If inner diameter is is about 6mm or 1/4" and outer diameter is 10mm/11mm you can put these on really tight with some hot water to make the hose pliable.

Ich wollte den Trinkwasseranschluß meines Katadyn Pocket mit dem Schlauch am Mundstück des Source FILBE WXP Low Profile Hydration Systems verbinden. um so schnell nachttanken zu können, ohne den Rucksack öffnen und an der Wasserblase rumzufummeln zu müssen. Leider ist der Silikonschlauch des Katadyn zu eng für dieses Kit - Katadyn scheint 4 mm Innenmaß zu haben und Source 7 mm - was man nicht unbedingt Source anlasten kann. Wäre aber praktisch, wenn Source ein Reduzierstück oder ein ähnliches 10 Ct-Teil beilegen würde und noch praktischer, wenn BEIDE Hersteller Maße angeben würden. Bei Source gibt es zwar einen FAQ-Punkt auf der Webseite, nur fehlt die Antwort. Erst wenn man die Seite auf Englisch umstellt steht da "The drinking tube (without tube cover) is 10mm in outer diameter, 7mm inner diameter." Dafür gibt's nen halben Punkt abgezogen. Update: Ich hab den Wulst gegen das Abrutschen am Source Connector fast komplett weggeschnitten, den Schlauch mit maximaler Gewalt knapp drübergezogen bekommen und das Ganze sicherheitshalber mit Schrumpfschlauch gesichert. Der Silikonschlauch von Katadyn hat laut einer Händlerseite übrigens folgende Maße: 7.6 mm außen / 4.2 mm innen. Ein Reduzierstück, wie ich ursprünglich vorgeschlagen habe, werde ich doch lieber nicht einsetzten um keine zusätzliche Angriffsfläche für Keime und Bakterien im Schlauch zu haben. Leider bietet auch kein anderer Hersteller mit dem gleichen Connector (Camelbak, Osprey, Deuter usw.) etwas von Haus aus passendes an.
