Warner Archive is full of pleasant surprises as of recent
This blew me away. We'd had Zombie Island on digital in HD for a little while, but I really didn't think that Warner would think they had a big enough demand for pressed Blu-rays of this classic. I'm very happy to be proven wrong and the picture looks quite literally better than ever before. Mook Animation really went out of their way on this production as did Steven Bramson with the oldies-horror inspired music he scored for it. It's a shame that Casey Kasem wasn't a part of this, but Billy West gives it all he's got here. Obviously inspired by John Carpenter's The Fog, it's fitting to have Adrienne Barbeau back in the voice cast as well. Even Cam Clarke was a part of this, his deep recognizable voice suiting a disgruntled gardener. This film is a '90s gem, drawing from old horror as well as more modern World of Darkness and anime tropes, going on as inspiration for lost-footage horror such as The Blair Witch Project and V/H/S. This is a purchase well worth the money.

Jaw dropping restoration of a milestone cartoon film
It’s hard to believe this movie is 26 years old! It was a major milestone when it debuted as a direct-to-video special. Thanks to the popularity of “Scooby Doo” reruns on Cartoon Network throughout the 1990’s, the Hanna-Barbera company was very interested in a new “revival” of the franchise. New parent company Warner Bros. was even more interested, but both parties wanted to do something a little different. They wanted something that would elevate the concept of a group of teenagers solving mysteries (which always lead to the apprehension of a crook in a ghost/monster costume) beyond the realm of Saturday Morning cheese.I won’t go further into the entire history of it beyond that, because you can look it up. Let me just tell you that in my opinion, this is one of the best “Scooby” things ever made, and Warner Archive’s restoration of it is jaw-dropping.This is a welcome, long overdue upgrade that exceeded my expectations. I just wanted an HD “upgrade” to a DVD I’ve always watched as a Halloween tradition…in lousy quality, cropped and stretched. This release is a fully restored effort, afforded the same care as Warner Archive gives its theatrical features. It’s in the correct aspect ratio, the image and sound are amazing, and it tops any presentation you ever saw on VHS, DVD, or TV.The bonus “sequel”, “Return to Zombie Island”, made recently…well…It’s a nice try.“Scooby Doo on Zombie Island” is a great film. The upgrade is amazing.

Zombie Island is great, and looks great. Return is... Neither.
The film transfer on Scooby-doo on Zombie Island looks amazing, and the film holds up both visually, and in terms of quality. It's just a shame that it comes with the horrible sequel on the same disc, but you don't have to watch it unless you really want to.

A must buy for Scooby fans
Zombie Island looks the best it has ever looked. Pretend that Return to Zombie Island is not included in this Blu-ray and you've got a 10/10 release.
