Smooth Writer, Crisp Color, and Totally Okay to Lose
Love these pens. They write super smooth right out of the box—no skipping, no weird break-in period, just clean, crisp lines from the first stroke. The ink color is vibrant, and the feel in hand is surprisingly nice for something disposable. The grip is just right for my slightly large hands. The ink dries quickly, though I'm not lefty, so that's not typically something I have too much problem with. I prefer the fine point > medium because my handwriting is messy and small and sometime the medium makes it bit blurry. Only downside? I keep losing them. But honestly, that’s kind of the point—they’re affordable enough that I don’t have to launch a full-scale search-and-rescue mission every time one disappears under the car seat or into the pen void at work. Great for everyday writing without the heartbreak if one vanishes. Definitely a repeat buy.

Very Good Budget Fountain
If you’re just getting into fountain pens or have used fountains before these are very good budget friendly pens. I have a few out to blow my coworkers minds- they’re only used to ballpoint or gel tip. Pair these with good paper and you have a match made in heaven. The texture/ feel of the tip on some good notebook paper is amazing. I have carpal tunnel and my wrist thanks me for buying these. Needing minimal pressure while maintaining good hand writing. Would definitely recommend

Pilot Varsity
The Pilot Varsity is a disposable fountain pen. I have had other fountain pens but the varsity is the first disposable that have found that is any good. and it is very good, Pilot got this one right. The one problem that has kept me from using a disposable fountain pen in the past is that I am a fast writer and none of them could keep up they would skip and i would have to go back and correct the gap and that is very frustrating. but the Varsity can keep up with my fast handwriting It writes smooth with no loss of line, the ink flows evenly and neat no matter how fast I write. I bought my first Varsity at a brick and mortar book store but when I needed a new one they stopped stocking them. I found them in staples but you can not buy a single pen and they only carry variety packs including black blue red and purple I have no use for the red and purple or the blue so I looked on amazon. Amazon is the only place I found the 12 Pack of black. If you like writing with a fountain pen and are looking for the convenience of a disposable (like me) or want to have a backup to use at work or school without having to worry about loosing your expensive refillable pen, get this pack you will not be sorry.

A great fountain pen for the price
People who enjoy writing for the sake of writing often gravitate toward fountain pens. Their initial cost can be a bit high, so the Pilot Varsity is an ideal starter pen. You have a chance to try out fountain pens for just a few bucks. It's a smooth, easy writer, and then ink lasts quite a bit longer than you'd expect. It writes fairly wet, but the ink dries quickly, so that smudging isn't a problem. It's very lightweight, which may appeal to some, but I'd like a bit heavier barrel. The barrel style is not particularly memorable, but again, it's an entry level pen. If you own more expensive fountain pens, you may also be hesitant to loan them out to friends. But with a Pilot Varsity, you can let a friend try one. Pretty soon, they may be hooked on fountain pens too. When you're ready to move up a bit, but not spend too much more, try the Pilot Knight, also sold by Amazon.

I’m a lefty and I love this pen
I’m a lefty and I love these pens. Test page is in a Leuchtturm 1917, I’m currently using this pen in three different ones. In my everyday writing, there is no smearing on the page! I do pick up small dots of ink on the side of my hand since I write inline, but there is minimal/no transference back onto the paper in my experience so far. It’s my first fountain pen so I’m still getting used to it. This pen is my new go-to for writing in my journals. I love how bold the ink is on the pages, I can already tell I’m going to be glad to have bought the 12 pack. There is some ghosting to the back of the page, doesn’t bother me since I write on both sides. I don’t feel like it’s dark enough to interfere with reading when you write on top of it. I’ll come back with an update if the first pen runs out absurdly fast. Update: I got the pens on September 20 and my first one ran out of ink on October 8. I journal daily with this pen so a box should last me about seven and a half months. I still love writing with this pen!

Perfectly Adequate
This is the second box of Pilot Varsity Pens I've purchased. The first box 'lasted' about a year -- which is to say that about a year passed before the box was empty. I only recall throwing two of them away because the ink was depleted, so I imagine that there are 10 more scattered in pockets, purses, cars, desk drawers, etc. These really do the trick if you are looking for fountain pen you don't have to worry about losing. They write easily and reliably. Though the nib is listed as medium, I am a lifelong fine point user, and I do not cringe when I see my handwriting. I love beautiful pens more than I will ever love jewelry, and have a treasured collection -- but sometimes I just want utility. My handwriting is all but illegible with a ball point pen, and the variety of gel pens, roller balls, etc. that I've tried as a compromise just never seem to work the way I want. (And certainly cost at least a much as these.) These fit the bill perfectly.

Bought them as a christmas present for someone who loves writing with fountain pens, and they gave me one out of their box. It's purple ink and it's fun to write with. Will definitely buy more.

I'm a right-handed writer who wanted a cool yet inexpensive pen and these fit the bill nicely. Writing on paper that isn't laid on a flat surface is as difficult as you would expect, but if you use gel ink pens you'll be familiar with that challenge. Still very fun to write with though, and people will often make compliments about the pen despite the fact that it's just a cheap disposable fountain pen with a mundane plastic (but comfortable) body. Really recommend this pen for people who don't want the hassle of a real fountain pen but like the aesthetics.
