OrcaTorch D560 Review
Overview: I wanted a tiny backup light that I could use on vacation or keep in my dry-suit pocket here at home as a backup to my backup light. The D560 rated 630 lumens on a flashlight that's only 9cm long had me intrigued. I did some cold water dives in Puget Sound as well as a week diving off Isle Cozumel in Mexico. So how did the D560 do? In the case: It with spare o-rings, two aaa batteries, zip ties, a Mask strap mount, a lanyard, a user manual, and a warranty card. Build and design: It’s built tough. The overall quality feels durable and solid in hand. The threading screws together with ease. It came with lubricated double o-rings that should help keep it watertight at depth. It feels very much like a scaled-down D550. I did not baby this light and just threw it in my dive bag when done. There is no visible wear on my sample after 15 dives. Depth Rated 150m IXP-8 Size: 9cm Net Weight: 47.5 grams without battery Power: It’s powered by a single AAA battery or 14500 rechargeable lithium battery. * Beam Distance (Land): AA Battery 240' (73m), Lithium-Ion 390' (119m) * Working Voltage: 0.8 to 4.2 The D560 uses a Cree XM-L2(U4) LED that can put out 630 lumens output with a 14500 battery. It has 3520 Candela and runs at 5000-Degree Kelvin Eggshell reflector for a defused 12-degree spot. Max Runtime: * Using a single 700 mAh Lithium-Ion 14500 Battery you get 630 Lumens for 60-Minutes (14500 batteries are available to 1150mAh) I chose to use a Vapcell H10 14500 Purple/White 10A Button Top 1000mAh Battery * Using a single AA Alkaline Battery you get 180 Lumens for 85-Minutes Simple: The light is intuitive and easy to use. Simply twist on and off. From off, a one-quarter turn of the switch will activate the light. Attachment points: There is a single attachment point on the tail of the light. The Orcatorch MX05 mask mount is included. The mount can rotate 360°. You can use the provided lanyard or in my case, a 316SS Boltsnap secured with #24 cave line. The Boltsnap was not included with the D560 but Orcatorch does offer one for purchase separately called the SH02 Boltsnap Hook. Finish: The finish shows little wear after multiple dives. Constructed from high-strength A6061-T6 aluminum. It has a Mil-Spec Type III hard anodized finish for durability and corrosion resistance. I found it to be very tough. Final Thoughts: Pros: -Bright and sustainable output. -No so bright that you are blinding the marine life. -Good color spectrum for underwater use. -Solid build quality. -Good Size. It’s tiny -Very lightweight. -Twist On/Off for easy use. -The rotary head switch offers high reliability underwater. I much prefer the twist over a button style. -Includes one aaa battery -Adds safety to any dive -150m rated depth makes this usable to technical and recreational divers. -Good value -Light is offered in three color options -Excellent backup light. -Nice that you can use a standard alkaline battery found worldwide if needed. -AA battery cuts the lumens significantly. -Perfect for travel -Can be used on land or sea -It’s the little light that could. It has earned a spot in my dive kit. Con’s: •An included rechargeable 14500 battery should be included. The light is significantly brighter with the rechargeable battery versus the AA. -I did not use the mask attachment as it does not lend itself to my diving. -Low runtime means it will need recharging or fresh cells for almost every dive. Best to have multiple batteries to swap as needed. -Only one brightness setting -Spot angle at 12 degrees is wider than I like. I prefer a tighter 7-8 degree non-diffused spot.

Great & very powerful small light
This is the Orcatorch mask light. Let me start with the customer service, Orcatorch customer service is the best I have ever dealt with! The representatives are very easy to contact, which includes via text message. Any questions were answered in a very timely manner any time of the day! The company is very accomodating and has a great selection of dive lights! The Orcatorch mask light was shipped very quickly and arrived as described. All the necessary mounting hardware was included with descriptive directions for setup and use. It included extra o-rings which is great to for easy upkeep. Two AA batteries were included which was very convenient especially because the light only requires 1 AA battery. There is also the option to use a lithium ion batterry to increase the brightness. I tried both batteries, the AA battery worked very well and produced excellent lighting. The attached photos are with the AA battery. The photos are from a dark quarry and this little powerful light did a wonderful job illuminating the dark water. This light was powerful enough that I switched it from my mask to a hand light, which was very simple to do. The operation of the light was very simple, twisting on and off. The construction is very durable and it is capable to withstand deep dives. I also switched the AA battery to a lithium ion battery which produced a brighter light which was very impressive. I will defintely be adding this light to my deep wreck and cave dives. The battery life is great using either battery type. I am defintely very impressed with this light and the company that produces it! I highly recomend this light to anyone from beginers to highly experienced divers! With how well this light worked, I am planning on purchasing more lights from them! The prices are very reasonable for such quality lights. I am also highly recommending this light to all my diving friends!

Powerful, Sturdy light. Good battery life.
I purchased this light as a backup diving light in case my primary failed. What drew me to this light was also the fact that it could be mounted to a mask, or other piece of gear with the included hardware. The construction of this torch is high quality and it feels well built. It's made of aluminum and powered with a single AA size battery. I was surprised at the strength of the single LED powered by a single AA battery. It is much brighter than expected. It comes with some spare parts also so you can replace anything that wears out over time and a wrist strap. I have only gone diving with this light once since I purchased it and I decided to try it on the mask-mount. The conditions were in a fresh water quarry with limited visibility (~10'). This little light did well! I would not recommend the mask-mount, however. Because the light is small and made out of metal, it is quite dense and underwater heavy. Mounted to my mask, the weight of the light pulled down my mask strap and the light was never pointed in a direction that was very useful. Additionally, the on-off mechanism is difficult to use single handed under water, especially with gloves on. Therefore I don't recommend that you use this light mounted to the mask. I do recommend this light, however, as a backup light. It is small and compact, easy to operate, and has decent battery life on a cheap single AA battery. Beyond that, this light isn't really suited for much more than emergencies. However, if this build quality is any indication of how well built the OrcaTorch lights are I would highly recommend this brand, especially at these price points. Looking forward to getting my next OrcaTorch light.

Compact, Bright, and Incredibly Handy – A New Favorite!
I picked up the ORCATORCH D560 as a small handy dive light, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite pieces of gear. For something this small, the 650-lumen beam is seriously impressive — it cuts through dark or murky water better than I expected. The 360° rotatable mask clip is a game-changer. It stays out of the way, gives me hands-free light exactly where I need it, and makes a great back up for night dives. It also makes them feel a lot more natural. The rotary switch is another thing I love — no fumbling with buttons, and it works easily even with thick gloves. I also like the flexibility of using either a regular AA or a rechargeable 14500 battery. It's built tough for such a small light. Overall, it’s compact, reliable, and just works really well. Whether you’re looking for a backup or a solid primary light for short dives, I can’t recommend this one enough.

Blown Away! Best light value I’ve seen yet!
What can I say about a light that is less than $50 and can travel to a depth of 150m (492ft) AND be able to go from a 1.5V AA battery to a 3.7V 14500 battery and not blow the circuit? This lamp is incredible! Very high quality aluminum construction, powerful Cree XM-L2 630Lm LED bulb. I think with the AA battery, the output is about 150Lm, but the polished reflector, even with the standard batteries, this light was able to illuminate a large cave chamber with little to no effort at all! I wish I had the 14500 battery to test it, but out of box, it’s a fantastic light. For what you get, for the money, you get a lot. A small light that can go almost 500’ deep, when I was scuba diving several years ago, a light that can go that deep was incredibly expensive, not that powerful and very large and bulky. This is the size of a small flashlight, comes with a mount that rotates and a wrist strap. Also, there are no switches, simply rotate the light head to complete the circuit to turn it on. That’s it! Overall, I was blown away with this light! This is now a standard gear item in my caving gear!

A compact light great for underwater photographer
Got the light for a while and finally get a chance to dive with it during the weekend. The light was compact enough that I didn't feel heavily weighted with it on, and I can actually turn the light on/off even with dry gloves on, which is a big plus. Did four dives with it, and two of the dives were decompression dives at 125' depth for 30 min or so each, and the light performed perfectly. In the quarry where the pictures were taken, it worked great as a focus light as the quarry was relatively dark, and any light will help in focusing the camera. It would probably work as a backup light for recreational diving, but for any serious tech diving, it is still recommended that a proper backup light is used in addition to this light. If I have anything to say to improve the design, it would be on the holder where the light is mounted to the mask strap. Care must be given before entry to make sure the light wouldn't disappear at the bottom of quarry (I had a couple of close call). A tie-wrap or two would probably make sure the mount is fixed to the mask strap permanently. (See the last picture) All and all, a great little light that fits the bill. AA battery is also readily available in case it needs to be replaced.

Great little backup light
You can never have too many lights when diving. Two is one and one is none. Personally, I usually have three on me. I have been looking for a smaller backup light to keep in my pocket. The D560 is rated for a maximum of 630 lumens. This light also comes with a mount to attach it to your mask strap. Like most OrcaTorches, It comes with bunch of goodies. This comes with spare o-rings, a lanyard, batteries, mask strap mount, warranty card and user manual. I do wish it came with rechargeable batteries like other larger OrcaTorch lights do (18650’s for my other OrcaTorch lights). It is built very well. It is solid and does not feel cheap. I was concerned the bezel would be too tight to allow the light to be turned on and off while underwater. That ended up not being the case. It easily turned on and off. You will want to make sure to relubricate the o-rings in the future. They do come pre-lubricated. The light is very light and goes un-noticed in the pocket. You could easily use a boltsnap and clip it off to a d-ring for quicker and easier access. I used this light for looking under rocks and overhangs in Mendocino at depths of 15-20 feet during high noon. It still came in quite handy for those darker areas. The throw is good is well. They claim a max run time of 1-1.5 hours. I used it for at least an hour and it worked great. No noticeable decrease in light output. I will test it again on a night dive to confirm that is still the case. This light also works great as a pocket light. It is durable enough to be tossed into a bag or pocket and be used as a backup light for above water. As a mater of fact, that is what mine is used for when not being used as a backup dive light. -Bright -Solidly built -Depth rating is outstanding for a little light. Deeper than 99% of all divers are likely to ever come close to diving -Perfect for diving and as a backup or pocket light

A workable mask mounted task light...
Bought this a couple of months ago as a hands free mask light to use while doing reel work and other tasks where I am unable to effectively aim my primary light. I am using it with 14500 rechargeable batteries, and in the cave environment so total darkness and white walls to reflect the light giving this light the best chance of performing. Brightness wise it is acceptable for the purpose but it is much less than the claimed 600lumens, based on comparing it with lights with confirmed output levels I would guess half that. The hotspot is a little large for how little light that it emits, it would be useless for signalling unless everyone is on lights like this. Based on that in my opinion this light would be pretty worthless with standard AA batteries. I didn't attempt to run test it, but it was enough runtime for the times I used it. Usability is a little hard, when mask mounted it is difficult to turn on and off, typically require two hands to do so. The mask mount isn't the best design as it sticks out pretty far so it is a snag hazard, and isn't really suited for the normal way most masks handle the tail end of their straps. I would probably add a retention loop for a bolt snap in case the o-ring that holds the light to the mount fails. Overall for the specific purpose I got it for, it works pretty well. But I don't think I would recommend it for general purpose light. Just for mask mount, and as a last ditch get me home light.
