So Handy!
Well, there comes a time when it's harder to thread a needle because the light is bad, your thread is kind of fat for the eye and / or your eyeballs start to go a bit far sighted. However, exercising the eyes rather than reading glasses is the chosen stubborn course. They are a nice bright green and easy to see thrown into a little sewing kit. They are also little, so you can keep your sewing kit little. I find it easy to get my needle on the hook and once you get down the technique to throw the thread over, it's pretty slick, you can do it more by feel. It's saved me a ton of time and frustration. I have to jiggle a needle with a smaller eye a bit because it's a tight fit with the thread and hook. But, I had about given up using smaller eyed needles altogether because they just frayed the thread. If finer finger dexterity and sensation is a challenge, these smaller fish threaders may be harder to maneuver, in which case something larger to grasp may be more practical. But these fish aren't just fun, they have texture at their gills that helps with holding them.

Unbelievably frustrating
It's easier to thread a needle than use this. It's supposed to be 3" and is 1". You need to do three functions at the same time with two hands. The two functions that need to be done with one hand are simultaneous. It took seven attempts before I got it to work. The only way I would use these is if I had a vise to hold the device which I aligned and threaded with my two hands. Amazon should take these off the site. I purchase regularly from Amazon and am disappointed in their sponsorship of this product.

Not what I expected or wanted
Fine for hand sewing needles, but the hook would not go through the eye of the needle in my sewing machine.

The tiny metal probe needs to be longer
I looked at a few convincing YouTube videos. The demos were short but persuasive.->First, I tried using this device with my sewing machine needle (14/90) mounted in the needle clamp of my sewing machine. I figured out I will need to poke the short rod into the backside of my sewing machine needle. (The flat end of my needle faces to the rear). I was able to reproduce the results shown in many YouTube videos (using a mounted, stabilized needle). HOWEVER, it is tricky to feed the short rod into the backside of the mounted needle on my sewing machine.I think these devices are great for side loading sewing machine needles.Second, I tried using this device with my sewing machine needle (14/90) not mounted in my sewing machine. I was able to poke the short metal rod into the hole of the needle and stabilize the needle and device between 2 fingers in my left hand. Then I tried to grab the thread (spooled) in my right hand to wrap it around the metal bud at the end of the short rod. However, it is very tricky to stabilize the short rod poked through the needle between 2 fingers. Maybe this takes more dexterity and practice with loose needles?->My next try? Maybe devise a simple clamping setup? (clothes pin?) for a loose needle?

It's not fishy
thought the there is not way this little fish would be so perfect. Took just a little to get used to it and saves me a lot of time trying to thread my needles!!!

Not for Machine needles
This is a NO for machine needles. No way to use them with where the needle hole is unless you thread it BEFORE Inserting g the needle into the machine.

Doesn't work with front to back threading sewing machines
Doesn't work so well for sewing machines which thread from front to back. Ok for regular sewing needles. Also so tiny. So hard to hold
