Nice texture, nice sheen, non-greasy
I have short, coarse, thick, wavy-to-curly grey hair. I used to use the gel pomade, which is about half the price or less, and which the woman who cuts my hair introduced me to years and years ago. That's a good product, too, but for my purposes this is much better. It adds a nice shine to my gray hair, and adds separation to what might otherwise be frizz, and provides hold without stiffness. It may have a mild scent--I'm not even sure, since if it does, it's pretty unobtrusive. It's a gender-neutral product. I'm a woman, and I think this is the best pomade I've ever used.

Love at first sight/feel/smell
Love at first sight/feel/smell. I bought the Imperial pomade based on the reviews here on Amazon. I had been looking for a new product to transition to from Layrite. I feel like the Layrite quality has diminished and they are using more and more synthetic ingredients, this part is fact not assumption. Whereas I used to feel Layrite left my hair feeling soft and healthy afterwards, not I feel like it leaves it thin and brittle. Plus they've been increasing the price slowly over the last few years, with a %50 hike over the last 5. So, Layrite no more. The Imperial is great. It smells like manly gummy bears but isn't overpowering. Every once and awhile I'd turn and catch a whif throughout the day. It has a unique texture that isn't quite smooth but isn't quite matte. If you style frugally I'd imagine this 6oz can will last a while. I was burning through the 4oz Layrite every 2-3 weeks but I feel this 6oz can will last me 2 months. I wet my hair and then styled with a Kent comb while blowdrying, then applied the pomade to establish my part and work the rest into a classic pompadour. Since it was my first time I certainly used more than I needed to but now I know where to start. I am sold on the quality of this product. I have used several water based products (Layrite, Suavecito, Uppercut) and oil based (Murray's, Ace, Bees Knees) and I am by far the most impressed by the Imperial brand. Perfect balance of hold, pliability, sheene and feel. 5 stars!

Awesomeness in a 6oz jar
This is a great pomade that smells great and the hold is just right. Not too stiff and not so soft to where a gust of wind would make you run to the nearest mirror. The shine is also just right (for my taste) as it isn't super shiny like you would get from Crew pomade. The best thing is that after it's dried in your hair, you can run your fingers through your hair to break up the hold a little more and even add a little more volume and take the shine down a little (for those of us who don't want that shiny super slick look). Last but not least, for $25, its a great deal considering the 6 oz you get... oh and it's also water-based, which means it washes out easily.

Strong Hold - NOT HIGH SHEEN
This hair product has great all-day pliability and hold. It's very workable no matter how much you mess with your hair throughout the day. I have two complaints about this product: (1) It is not high sheen, not even close. It's a straight matte finish; (2) It is not medium hold, it's a strong hold. I tried this as a replacement for the American Crew pomade (medium hold, high shine). This Imperial product has significantly strong hold and absolutely no shine when compare to the American Crew pomade. This Imperial pomade is a great product but it's labeling is inaccurate.

Has Very Good Hold Without Slicked Back Look
The days of my thick wavy hair are long gone, and I've had difficulty finding a suitable product for my thin, grey hair that lacks texture. My first impression with Imperial Barber Fiber was somewhat disappointing because of the cost, but now after a month of use I realize it goes a very long way. The hold is very good for my unmanageable hair, and it doesn't look slicked back like other pomades. The jar says high sheen and I'm glad the manufacturers description now corrects that because it is not. The hold lasts throughout the day and can be touched up with a comb without loss of hold. Overall this is by far the best product I've used and I've used several. I will buy it again.

Great hair product
I am female with colored hair and my hair is very fine, looking like I don't have much hair. This gives me the lift with a bit of shine without being heavy and makes my hair look fuller. It lasts all day and can withstand normal breeze outside and still look good. Love it.

gets crunchy
this is an okay product. Depends what you are trying to achieve. I have a couple of their hair products and haven't quite found the right one for my hair, even when I try to combine them. I wanted a moldable hold that is not crunchy. So for starters, don't put this on while your hair is wet right after the shower. Damp hair only. But it still gets a little crunchy. I have very thick short hair and I do not like greasy stuff. This product is definitely not greasy - it's water based and washes out easily. It also has minimal scent to it. It's a challenge to find something that provides a moldable hold that I can restyle throughout the day. I would not likely buy this again.

I Love This Pomade!
My favorite pomade from Imperial. Just the right amount of shine and the perfect amount of hold. I have medium to slightly thick hair. Bangs are about 4.5in and the rest is about 2-3in with the sides tapered. Lasts all day at work and holds up to putting on and taking off a hat a few times a day. it is water soluble so it washes out super easy. A touch of water will activate it if you need to restyle. I get most of my compliments about my hair when I use this product. If you go to the Imperial website they show you how to use their products and ways to maximize their effectiveness. I typically combine the Matte Pomade Paste and this Fiber Pomade which is one of the techniques demonstrated on their site. Apply a generous about of Matte Pomade paste to damp or just less than dry hair and mold you hair with your hands roughly to the way you style it. Then take a bit of Fiber Pomade, rub it in you hands till your hands get warm, then spread the product over the top of your rough mold just to add the bit of shine. After than comb to perfection.

I love this stuff. Used to get it at my barber but he stopped selling it because it keeps getting more expensive. Great hold/flexibility, is never greasy or hard. It's the cleanest product I've ever used.

Just the right amount of hold - very slight sheen. Wet it slightly at the end of the day and it reactivates.

Greats stuff. Hold the hair well even when I wear a hat or a beanie (as it is cold in Canada). The pomade holds for a very long time. This is the only hair product I bought in the last few years and that I will buy in the future.
