First impression
The only thing that I dont like about this pouch is that if you already have a laminated map 18 x 22 which is used for land nav it takes a bit of folding to get it to fit. With it being laminated, after folding is done the map is too thick to fit properly in pouch. Also I think this case is mainly for an unlaminated map. Over time I see the map as well as the case start to becoming unservicable. So make sure you only have unlaminated maps in the pouch. The map pouch is detachable which is a good thing amd the plastic is able to be written on to mark check points along your route. The velcro that holds the map pouch to the rest of the case really needs to be a bit stronger and more robust to last the life of the case. Over all it is a good case for the price. The true test is when I take it out to perform some serious land nav amd training.

Keeping land nav skills current.
Nice addition to my kit. Still enjoy navigation by map, good skill if GPS batteries go flat. Great for using USGS maps and even tried city maps.

Well made, but stiff
This map case came out of the box pre folded and arranged in a very efficient, space saving manner. The downside is that this leaves heavy creases in the material, so after opening it takes some effort to get it to stay that way because it wants to fold back on itself. This is not a problem with the product really, just a heads up to buyers. I found the utility and the variety of pockets/holders to be really well thought out. You won't hurt for space to carry additional pens, lights, orienteering tools, etc. with this holder. I am very pleased with it and it will come in very handy while hiking new trails or wildlife areas that I am not yet familiar with.

Great organizing map case for navigation
I really like this map case. It holds everything I would need to keep my maps in good shape while I use them and holds my grease pencils, compass, flashlight, protractor straightedge/ruler etc... The construction looks like it will last for many years of use.

Creases
The clear cover over the map area is the incorrect type of plastic and gets creases in it when folded that stay there, it's comes creased from the factory. I figured putting it in the sun would help but it doesn't.

Excellent land nav gear
Takes getting used to but very useful for land nav and tough enough to use in the field. Not too bulky to carry at all.
