I have two typewriters from the early 20th century and it's been a very long time since I could go to the local office supply store and buy a replacement ribbon. These SCM compatible ribbons fit a lot of different typewriters, including my Underwood portable. These ribbons come with a take-up spool already attached, which might make it easier to install it. The spools are plastic, and might not hold up as well as the original steel spools. The ribbons are nylon, which used to be a premium material for typewriter ribbons. The impressions are crisp and bold These ribbons do not have grommets installed and will not auto-reverse even if your typewriter is equipped for it.
