Pico 4 Ultra VR Headset: A Capable All-Rounder with Room for Improvement
Pico 4 Ultra VR Headset: A Capable All-Rounder with Room for Improvement As an avid VR enthusiast, I was excited to get my hands on the Pico 4 Ultra. After spending some quality time with it, here's my take: Pros: Easy Setup & Performance: The headset was a breeze to set up, and its 12GB RAM delivers great performance and multitasking capabilities. Clear Visuals: The pancake lenses provide clear, edge-to-edge vision, and the display, while LCD, offers good resolution with minimal screen door effect. Impressive Mixed Reality: The mixed reality passthrough is a significant upgrade, offering excellent tracking and room recognition, making for immersive experiences. Seamless PCVR Streaming: Pico Connect makes PCVR streaming straightforward, providing good quality even wirelessly. Accurate Full-Body Tracking: The optional motion trackers are incredibly easy to set up and deliver accurate full-body tracking, a huge plus for social VR. Cons: Facial Interface Discomfort: The biggest drawback for me was the facial interface, which caused discomfort and light leakage due to its shape. Subpar Hand Tracking: While present, the hand tracking lacked accuracy and responsiveness, with noticeable latency. Smaller App Store: The app store, while growing, is still not as robust as some competitors. Overall, the Pico 4 Ultra is a strong contender, especially for its mixed reality capabilities and effortless full-body tracking. If the facial interface fits you well, and you're looking for a solid all-around VR experience, it's definitely worth considering, especially with the pre-order bundle. However, be mindful of the less-than-stellar hand tracking and the comparatively smaller app library.

Works well with Linux and very comfortable
A great first VR headset, been using it for 5 months. In the box it comes with an extra gasket so one can wear glasses and still use the headset. Standalone this isn't bad, Fruit Ninja is a favourite. PCVR is where this shines, downloading WiVRn makes this a great headset. Smooth framerates with WiFi 6, got as part of a pack with leg trackers. Great battery for the main HMD and the controllers take consumable batteries that last for several months.

Very nice
Very good for pc vr, battery lasts longer than quest 3 and its more comfortable with a better fov and picture. There is slight glare on the lenses if you have the brightness turned up or have the vr on at the wrong angle and it’s probably not the go to unit for standalone games or if you already have a meta library full. I’m very impressed with how much nicer and faster this is than the quest 3 for steam / vd pcvr. Pass through is about the same as quest 3 and much nicer than the original Pico 4. Got this as a used like new unit (box opened return) and no issues.

Excellent
All round great headset, though people with nose bridges may have to use the 'spectacle wearer' fitting otherwise the headset rests painfully on nose bridge, even with straps correctly adjusted

We deserve more but not bad
A bit of a lazy upgrade from Pico, hardly any improvements especially in the resolution department and there is a fair amount of glare and reflection just by wearing the headset, when I first put the headset on I thought the sticky lense protector had smeared the screen but nope this is how it is!! Sometimes you can see multiple reflections just from holding the controllers. The spatial camera is quite good and I find recording gameplay in vr on my P4U via the spatial camera really fun, I recorded gameplay from "into the radius" then I can play it back in 3D from the photos app and the videos look really good and the recorded audio is really good quality. There is no 3.5mm audio jack but I use the Prismxr T1 earbuds and I find they work really good with NO lag using the T1's dongle. I mainly bought the P4U for pcvr and using virtual desktop or the much improved Pico connect app using the AV1 code really good, you do need a decent pc and connection to achieve this though but the graphics improve immensely. I do own and love the Quest 3 but I do find even after upgrading my head strap I get headaches and feel neck strain and using the Pico 4 ultra I've had no such pain or ever felt uncomfortable wearing it. If you are wanting a very comfortable & stylish Vr headset look no further than the Pico 4 ultra it does have it's issues regarding glare and outdated lens but if you can look past this it can be your daily Vr driver.

Upgrade from Oculus Rift S gen1
Upgraded from a wired Oculus Rift S gen 1, and the difference is night and day, really I didnt believe the advertising before that its more comfortable and provides a better image or that it can do streaming from pc wirelessly without issues. Well all those came true, streaming is awesone no hiccups with av1 decoding/encoding, games work perfectly virtually no lag, its almost not noticeable, beat saber does have a bigger delay but with adjustment its almost the same, and the best part if you want it to be the same, just grab a type c cable and use it wired! Screen and ipd adjustment are amazing, in the rift s i could clearly see the pixels with this its way less noticeable. The clarity is great and the colors are well oled cannot be beaten, no more grey darks, and no more yellow whites. Pico connect app works fine, sone settibg tweaking is required for better quality but it still is a great streaming app, and yes it works with youtube and with sbs movies. There is a pico app store and some games can be found on it but i still prefer streaming from steam. Updates are pushed fairly often and all settings are adjustable, developer mode is easy to unlock and adb debugging is also available. As for other settings Hand control is also great, no controllers required! Its a bit of a weird mess but when the lighting is good it works amazingly. Definitely my new favorite.

Są to moje pierwsze okulary VR i po tych kilku miesiącach nadal jestem nimi zachwycony. Świetne do gier, rekreacji i pracy.

it allows for impressive FBT with just these alone and the battery lasts a long long time very worth imo

loses vs the meta quest 3 in the market options, and the finger tracking is a bit behind but the camera quality for AR is exceptional and the comfort is amazing thanks to the weight balance wifi 7 works like a dream for PC VR giving over 2Gbps over the air, would recommend a wifi 7 router in the same room also the fact that you can get FBT with just the ankle straps is very nice to have and are worth the investment depending on use case would buy again for PC VR
