Happy I purchased
This is a great generator. Well worth the price for duel fuel. Easy to start and with propane usage it illuminates alot of unnecessary maintenance

excellent product
Our electrician recommended this generator brand and he installed indoor/outdoor connections for it. We've been extremely happy with how it operates. We purchased a trickle charger for it and a protective cover. Have only needed to use it a couple times and it powered all the essential things in our household with no problem at all -- well pump, boiler, 2 refrigerators, freezer, lights and internet, plus can handle even more. We have to be at home to move it outside to start it, but for us, it was a good investment and we can take it with us if we ever decide to move. Solid, well made, easy push button self-starting. Couldn't be happier.

Bad Battery
I start it up every two weeks to keep the battery charged The battery won’t hold a charge in cold weather. It is only two years old & kept inside out of the weather.

Great Customer Support!
You can tell a LOT about the quality of a product by the customer support from the company. Duromax customer support gets 5 stars from me on this purchase. First, this Duromax XP12000HX Portable Generator is very well designed. But, "I" created a slight problem during initial assembly. The first step out-of-the-box is to roll the generator over and take out 2 shipping braces that are bolted to the frame. Wouldn't you know I dropped a bolt and it took one bounce before going right into a port for the motor! After 30 min of trying to get the bolt to move where I could find and retrieve it, I gave up and called Duromax support. I left a message and then tried again to retrieve the bolt. Success! I went on with the initial setup and had no problems. Vwhalla...Support returned my call ready and willing to help. Thankfully, I had already solved my own problem. I really appreciated the call back and the attitude of the rep. I'm sure that I will be happy with this generator, I'm already pleased with Duromax as a company!I included a photo of the bottom of the motor where a stray bolt took temporary refuge.

2 years later and still loving it
The ability to use propane or gasoline make this really flexible. The push button start is holding up well. Get a good cover to protect it from the elements, change the oil when you should and it will get the job done!

Hurricane. Brand new defective generator. No manufacturer support. Darkness and spoiled food.
I've seen other reviews on here where people say they wish that they could give a product zero stars. Now I know how they feel. We purchased this generator back in late July so that we would be ready for hurricane season (yes, Florida). I put oil in it and checked the battery, but didn't gas it up because I didn't want the fuel sitting in it. I know, I know, I should have cranked it, tested it and broken it in BEFORE I actually needed it. Misplaced confidence vs. negligence. The night before the hurricane was to hit, I fueled it up, turned on the fuel valve, turned on the battery and luckily was hit by the smell of gas before I pressed the start button. After a few minutes of self flagellation, and hurriedly turning off the fuel valve, I noticed that this thing is leaking gas somewhere up behind the carburetor. I can't really see where it's coming from without disassembling pieces parts. I'm not a small engine mechanic, and I don't want to void warranties or screw something up, so I don't want to touch it. Besides, with a brand new $1000+ generator, I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WORK ON IT. Called Duromax. One hour hold, recording then advised me to leave a message and someone would contact me. This was a statement, not an offer of an option. Left message. No contact x 2 days, sent email. Return e-mail several days later informing me that my case was being routed to the appropriate department. No word since. I have more pressing concerns with trying to have my house repaired, so this has been a nagging, very unwelcome side issue I've had to deal with. Given my experiences so far, I would advise anyone reading this review to think twice before going with a Duromax product. I know that there are plenty of good reviews here on their stuff, but I was one of the unlucky ones, and the dangerously defective product + total lack of timely support and no follow up (to date) leave me, to put it mildly, somewhat underwhelmed.

Dura-Max 12000 HX
This is the only generator you will ever need..power went out on Wednesday just as the Hurricane started..And stayed out for 6 days..i used mostly gas because it lasted much longer then the propane I used..It ran my whole house including my central air conditioner...But I am going to install a easy -start on the ac unit,To make sure I don't have to have all the ceiling fans off so it doesn't blow the 50 amp breaker..But it ran flawlessly for the whole time I used it..Going to change the oil and put a new spark plug in it..To get ready for the next storm..Thank you .Dura-Max..for making a great product..
